Get the transmission properly diagnosed by a shop that tests the pressures in the transmission. They can tell you if it is clutch packs or which drums have bad seals. Or you have a bad planetary gears which cause clunking also. Double check the speedo gear it is made out of plastic and if worn the computer cannot tell what speed it should be shifting. Does the car still shift good with manual operation from gear to gear from you? If so the problem will be that speedo gear.

SOURCE: jerking problem

Morganoffat,
I'm not a mechanic but I have 15 years in the parts business. From what you say I will point you into the direction I beleive your problem is. I would check your throttle control. follow the air intake to the engine intake manifold. in that area you will find what is called a "throttle position sensor". it is activated be the postion of the "gas pedal" it work alittle like a reostat switch. not much you can do with it other than checking ohm redings at differnt positions or replaceing it. Good Luck

SOURCE: how do you change the fuel filters

Hello... Sorry to tell you, the fuel filter is in the fuel tank. In order to change it, you have to change the fuel pump and filter as an assembly.

If you would like instructions to replace the fuel pump with the fuel filter post a comment back.

Good Luck

SOURCE: What's the easiest way to

Remove the bench bottom of the rear seat and there is a black plate cover on the driver's side. Pry up the cover to gain acess to the fuel pump assembly mounted on top of the fuel tank.

Hi I got a Toyota corolla 160i gle and it was parked very long so wen i started it wen ideling no smoke BT wen hit da fuel it smokes and on take off BT wen driving it does nt smoke

Generally, it may smoke on startup for a few seconds then quit and seem to run fine, then you hit the gas and it smokes again, so Is it white smoke gray smoke or blue smoke? Because IMO it's either a bad head gasket, bad valve guides, rings are going bad ot dumping to much fuel into carb or injectors.

Where is the fuel filter on a1991 Geo Prizm LSI Located?

PRIZM = toy corolla.
and is in front of the fuel tank. EFI system, USA .
you didnt look there first. or just want to be told.?
http://www.fixkick.com/PRIZM.html

quote
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the pressure in the fuel line as follows:
    1. Fit a wrench of the exact size onto the upper line connection and fit a second wrench on the flats of the filter. This counter holding arrangement will prevent the filter and lines from turning during removal.
    2. Wrap the upper filter area in layers of rags to absorb spray and spillage.
    3. Slowly loosen the bolt holding the line to the filter. When the pressure is equalized, remove the bolt and the line. Plug the line immediately.
  3. Again using two wrenches, disconnect the lower line to the filter. Be prepared to deal with fuel spillage. Be very careful not to crimp or bend the fuel line. Plug the line immediately.
  4. Remove the filter from its holder.
it assumes you can find it.
any one can if you just look in front of tank or follow the 2 fuel lines
1 line lands on the filter. all it takes is just looking.

the exact location changes in 89-91 generations
or by engine options.. not stated.
the FSM covers this, why guess?

here are the steps for all cars, with external filters
1: depressurized the system using FSM steps. (or get a bath in fuel)(
2: find the filter, im sure you can do that following the main fuel line from the injector rail to the filter. (its a loop system)
supply line and return, the supply line is filtered on all cars made.
3: remove the 2 banjo bolts. using 2 wrenches, not 1.
4: remove filter. taking of the cars tire/wheel makes this more easy.

reverse above to get it back.
the filter has direction do not put it in backwards.

Toyota corolla 1993 2e is jerking while running

could be lots of things
in order from most obvious to least
1.) general maintenance, like spark plugs/wires and fuel filter
2.) failing fuel pump
3.) failing sensors like MAF or TP

bottom line if you have maintained your vehicle do that first
while buying parts have the store pull codes and see what else could be wrong

any further assistance should be directed to the chat room for LIVE questions/answers

My toyota corolla cs does not want to start properly and its got a jurk can it be the points or the plugs

this could be caused by a number of reasons, most common are: dirty fuel or air filter, plugs, distributor cap, spark plugs, spark plug wires or a poor connection in one of the harness plugs, also be sure to inspect there are no wires touching the exhaust manifold, this could cause a live positive to ground out causing hard starting and jerking, it it also a possibility the fuel pump is on its way out. inspect these areas only if the above doesnt help. hope this helps.

1997 Toyota Tercel (Manual)

Fuel regulator, EGR vavle and EGR valve sensor. But this really sounds like a fuel issue. You can also check your fuel pump, and of course check your air filter and your spark plugs.
