Parking brakes light on for oldsmobile Aurora 2001

If the cable is not too corroded you can sometimes lift it by hand so that it will trip the parking brake switch and turn off the light.I have had to replace the parking brake assembly on both of my Auroras to get the system functioning again. The cables corrode just where the first cable comes through the body and connects to the next intermediate cable. The entire brake pedal assy. needs to be replaced ($65.00) for the part.

My parking brake release is broken. I cannot release the parking brake. How do I fix it?

For the time being, you can crawl down under the dash, follow the parking brake cable and see where it connects to the brake mechanism under the dash. You will be able to pull or pry on that part in order to release the parking brake. To replace, remove the cable from the points where it's attached (dash, brake release mechanism) and reinstall the new one.

2001 GMC Jimmy 2D won't pass inspection because the parking brake won't stay down. Is this an expensive fix?

No, it's not that expensive. I have the same problem and am fixing it now.
Basically you need to replace the parking brake assembly that is held on with 3 bolts, and the 2 cables. ( brake cable and release handle )
The Brake cable has three flared tabs you need to squeeze to get it out of the assembly.
Get a replacement brake assembly at your local wreckers, Mine will cost $22.00
Re-install the large cable with the flanges and then bolt it in, then attach the release cable.
Done!

My saturns e-brake stoped working and wont stay up how can i fix that?

if you mean the parking brake, sounds like you have broken a cable. the cables keep tension on the handle and without that tension it won't stay up. also the broken cable would mean no parking brakes. if however the parking brakes work when you pull and hold the brake handle, then you have a broken part in the handle itself. you will need to get under it to figure out which cable is broken and replace it. the heat shielding may make this hard. I think the parking brake system is made of three separate cables, you can buy new ones at autozone, advance, ebay. stay away from dealers and used parts on this repair.

What does it take to repair a parking brake on a Mazda MPV for 2004. Is there such a thing as a brake shoe for the emergency or parking brake?

If this is an automatic, like I think it is, you don't need parking brake.
But if you still want to fix, the parking brake uses the rear brakes through a cable. The cable might be rusted or broken. This is the most common rpoblem.

How do I adjust the parking brake cable on a 1991

If the car has a center console between the seats, and the e-brake lever is there, remove the console there should be a bolt to tighten or loosen. Loosen it with the lever DOWN, pull the cable as tight as it will go with your hand and a pair of pliers. Holding the cable in place tighten the bolt or nut that secures the cable. If this doesn't fix it, have your rear brakes inspected and/or adjusted.
