Reattach rear defrost cords to window?

no you can't but if you go to a gm dealer they have a little bottle of repair connection fluid that works great. ask for rear window defoger repair. its about the size of a nail polish bottle, goes on the same, and even smells the same.

Use the same glue used for the rear-view mirror. Its available at the autoparts stores.

You have to solder it on with a soldering iron and silver solder, if you can't do it any local shop should be able to for a minimal fee.

You may be able to buy a spade connector and trim the wire to enable you to fit the new connector and attach it to the window. If the contact has been damaged on the actual glass it may be possible to solder onto it.

at the parts store, PERMATEX makes a copper based glue to repair this. ask the parts person, i'm sure they will know what I'm taking about.

Plexi works fine, but it doesn't have the embedded heating wires. To replace the glass normally requires that the hood section below it be replaced with it. This usually means removal of the hood material from the back of the car, and reattachment by staples to the mounting strip. Most suppliers have instructions on how to do this.

If you get a good used rear window, you might be able to simply 'unglue' the feature strip (that's the hood material below the glass) and reattach it to the 'new' window with 3M's special adhesive for this.

you need to make sure the wires are on the glass on each side and there is no broken wires in the glass there is a repair kit at a auto store to fix if you have a volt meter test it and that way you can find the problem look for breaks in the wire in the glass and do not for get the wires on each side of the glass.

Ford sells a solder kit to reinstall a rear defroster wire that comes off. Must be soldered, not glued.

At Radio Shack they carry some Heat tape just for a Situation Like this.
