If you are rebuilding the engine, it would be best to replace the oil pump. one you have the engine out and have easy access to the pump. It also could be the cause of why you are having to rebuild the engine. the oil pumps are usually not that expensive, but pulling a motor loose to replace an oil pump when you will such easy access to replace it.. just be in your best interest to replace as it is such a vital part of keeping your engine from failing!

My Cadillac deville it's making a ticking noise back top left of the engine

with that low mileage will assume its a newer model and not a classic
what year is it

ticking noise with low oil most likely the hydraulic tappets
they can be replaced

only older models are old school manual adjusted tappets

any other problems with the caddy
is it being serviced regularly ?
need to check for engine oil leaks or why the oil was low
maybe a oil pump or oil filter check

find another mechanic and get his diagnosis
a cylinder compression test and engine oil pressure test
is done before any engine rebuild would be considered

unless run without engine oil or totally over heated
52 000 miles on any cady motor it is no where near and engine rebuild

the tappets

I have a 1984 jeep cherokee pioneer 2.5 l.engine that has 360,000 miles on it. Almost immediately after I change the oil it reeks of gas. What are possible reasons behind this and how can it be fixed?

it's a carb engine and carb fuel pump.
redux for "IT"

OR DID "IT" MEAN THE OIL STINKS OF GAS.
NOT CLEAR.
i drained the oil and the catch pan stinks of raw fuel.
THE GAS DILUTED WITH GAS, CAN BE 2 THINGS.
ON CARB CARS.
1: THE BLOCK MOUNTED FUEL PUMP is bad and leaks fuel into the crankcase, badly and fast.'

2: carb float valve is stuck, open and fuel flowing like crazy out all jets and nozzles , un controlled...

84 XJ Pioneer. AMC 2.5L
not to many of these left on the road.
it had a Rochester or Carter CARB.
Ever check float levels on it?
or rebuild a carb? with new float valve, that does not stick?

take off air cleaner
stall engine, at same moment look down carb bore
(horn) does it still leak fuel engine off?
oops. (float stuck)
if not, then jump on fuel pump bad inside. replace it.

Oil light comes erratically on 92 accord

my guess is one of three things:

1. clogged inlet or worn out oil pump gears: change oil pump
2. Engine is tired and has leaky loose bearings and journals, hemorrhaging oil out all internally bleeding places. Engine flush unclogged the varnish that was holding oil pressure up. Rebuild engine or change when current engine blows.
3. Bad oil pressure sensor causing strange readings. Diagnose actual oil pressure and change sensor if needed.

These vintage honda engines are everywhere for cheap at junkyards. i wouldnt pay more than 350 for one.

Montero sport 2003 oil leak, loss of power, deposit on plugs

Where to begin.
Any chance you can take the truck back for a refund ??
If not, you have some major expenses ahead.
If the oil is in the cylinders, the odds are you have rings and valve guide wear which would require rebuilding the engine. Replacing the valve cover gaskets would only be a concern if the oil is on the outside of the spark plugs. Fixing one thing such as rings or valves with that many miles on the truck would not be realistic.
The bearings and oil pump and so on would have 192k on them.
The timing belt and water pump should be replaced every 75,000 miles, so you should be on the third one now and another due at 210k.
The big issue is the mileage on the truck. Replacing or rebuilding the engine now would be a big investment on a truck that is close to the end of life regarding the rest of the components such as suspension and transmission. The 3.0 engine and drive train have a life expectancy of 200k in most situations. Not to say it can't last any longer, but the odds go down after that number.

1996 Ford 300 six cylinder loses oil pressure when engine warms up

first you will have to say what the oil pressure is cold, idle and 2000 rpms and then hot idle and 2000 rpms before a decision to advise about a rebuild can be made
there are many reasons oil pressure can drop and not all require a rebuild

Is there a way i can repair or clean my oil pump as opposed to buying one

I have never seen a rebuild kit for modern oil pumps and new ones are reasonably priced. If you are interested in cleaning an oil pump, it is time to pull the engine and rebuild the complete engine. If oil is changed regularly, you should never have to clean an oil pump. If you are having problems with the oil pump, you have probably damaged the bearings at a minimum and an engine rebuild would be highly recommended.

Hi my name is vin i have a mitsubishi 3000gt the engine was rebuilded on 2005 and now the oil pump was changed my car right now has a white smoke i want to know if my car has an engine problem it doesnt...

white smoke usually means a blown head gasket or cracked head but first check the pcv valve if its stuck open your engine could be pulling in oil and burning it raw, if not good chance its your head gasket.
