Started smoking light trail then heavier with loss of power, then the power will return could be a day or several days of limping along. Turbo dumping at 1500 rpm. Just changed split hose between turbo/inter cooler cleaned out intake manifold as it had sludge and carbon. Doing 275,000km so fully aware there will be done loss of compression and oil being burnt. But the power loss is intermittent. What can i check.
Thanks. Nick

if a four cycle engine I would say either you have a lot of work ahead or engine replacement. The only way to find out is boroscope the cylinder to see for piston damage. or total teardown for rod damage. I think you blew it up.
It's possible you overfilled the power steering reservoir or perhaps spilled some that leaked down on the exhaust manifold. That would cause a lot of smoke until it burned off.
A flashing CEL (check engine light) means the computer is recognizing a "catastrophic failure" in your emissions system, warning you of the possibility of severe damage to your catalytic converter(s). The power loss could be a number of things, but the knocking, combined with the flashing light, means there is a severe problem with one (or more) cylinders. Get your vehicle towed to a shop for full diagnostics.
If the engine mechanically is good ---no knocking or piton-slapping noises--chances are your engine breather system is plugged up.----possibly plugged up in the valve cover---the tube or hole where the PCV valve is located in the valve cover. check the PCV valve too --when you sake it you should hear it rattle. To check the valve cover without taking it off --remove the PCV valve and with a piece of hose inserted in it's place inthe valve cover try blowing thru it---( with engine off ) if you can not then remove the valve cover and manually unplug the blockage.
Hi i took the jeep into the dealers they said the fault was a intercooler hose, have to wait for part could this have caused all that smoke vehicle still there so no diagnostic sheet yet to see the code
