2003 Lincoln navigator reset computer options?

How can you misplace an ECM!

Your ECM needs to be preprogrammed with the VIN Number. You will need an auto-electrician.

NOTE: We will need your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in order to program the unit.
During the checkout process, please enter it in the text field labeled "Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)" located in the Vehicle Information section.

How to replace the computer in my 2005 chevy Tahoe

Dear Sylvia,
Of course you can replace the computer, but remember, if you have not fixed the problem to cause these symptoms, you may find the new computer will not work either.
You need to be absolutely sure the computer is the problem.
It would take many pages of this web site to tell you how to replace the computer, so it will be just as easy for you to go to a library or a car parts store, and get a repair manual and follow those instructions.
Libraries check out such book, you need not buy them.
Some name brands are : "Chilton's", "Motor's", and "Haynes".
All are make and model specific.
God bless your efforts.

Have replaced computer twice that both burned out in very short time apart and now having it checked I need to replace another computer what could be causing my computer system to burn out so quickly

ill start with....... any time youmpost an automotive question you need to let us know the year make model and engine size!

the computer controls and monitors many different things. there has to be something that the computer is looking at or controlling that is failing. Tat part that is failing is being overlooked. When the computer fails what is not working? That is what you need to figure out. Once that is figured out the part tat is not working can be repaired and then, and only then, can the computer can be replaced with the confidence of a proper repair.

computers generally do not fail. its the components that are tied top the computer that fail that cause the computer to then fail.

Had to replace an engine, car still will not start, mechanic says the computer have to be reprogramed or replaced? Need some information for my own knowledge

I don't know why replacing an engine would cause the computer to have to be reprogrammed or replaced. If the engine was replaced with the same type and calibration of the engine that the vehicle was originally equipped with, everything should simply bolt and snap in. If everything was installed correctly and all connections were made properly, you should be able to twist the key and drive away.

My biggest question would be this: Was the old engine still running when it was determined that it needed to be replaced? If the answer to this question is yes, then the next question is how can a working computer go bad from replacing an engine? IT CAN"T!!! --- What changed during the process?
