How to change the blend door acuator easly - 1998 Dodge Intrepid

The blend door itself and blend door actuator are the only things it can be.

Blend door acuator motor in dash board. when you change positions and temperatures the motor should turn and and close blend doors, when the motor is on its last leg or shot, it does not open or close door properly resulting in improper temp other than what you have it set to.

Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure No Heat or no AC (dependes on where door sticks)

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.

Other causes of no heat in the cabin are engine thermostats that are stuck open (engine runs cold) or air bubbles in the cooling system.

this is located in the evap box if its not moving it can be the acuator that is bad sometimes you can knock on the box and if its just hung it may come unstuck more likely though the acuator is bad actuator is attached to the blend door usually on top of the evap box

check the vacuum lines going to the h-vac (under the dash where the blower motor is) make sure there are no vacuum leaks if there are no leaks start checking the blend door acuators firts locate all of them then start looking for the one that closes and opens the cold and hot blend door. turn the nob to heat and the other one to panel (not a/c panel just air) then if your not sure which one controls the hot and cold blend door start checking to see which acuator has vucuum going to them if there is vucmuum going to them but the acuator does not move replace it.but if it does compress take the rod lose from the blend door and see if the door in side the box is broken. if is not replace the climate controler on the dash. i hope this helps.

The Blend door in the HVAC box. Unfortunatly this is the main cause of this type of problem u have to remove the dash and replace the blend door and the acuator.

the acuator is located on top of the heater box, most of the time you have to remove the dash, the most common problem is the acuator , but the blend door inside the case also breaks
