You can also use an iPhone with the Google Translate app on it and use the Camera feature to translate what you see on the screen. Settings is on the lower right and then Language on the next screen.
They were made for the Japanese Home market, so in all likelihood, you are stuck with Japanese text. Try this. Use a smartphone with the Google Translate App on it and use the Camera Feature to translate what you see on the screen. Look for settings - Language. If you can access the settings on the screen menu (gear icon), then keep scrolling to the right and then see a 'system' option on the screen there will be a language option there (tap the navigation arrow on the top right of the screen 7 times). View the languages (tap the second one down the list) and select the one appropriate for your region. Be aware that you may not be able to receive FM broadcasts outside of the Japanese bandwidth.
*this works on later Mazda Axela/3 models. Unsure if it will work on the MY11 model. Once you have changed the language you can proceed to go through the menus to alter other settings like connectivity, display in miles/kilometres etc)
check setup go to japanese setting hold reset button until it switches over to english. sometime you hold reset or setup button. check for u tube video for your model car
If you cant read it and have an android smart phone, download Google translate. You can use the camera on the screen and it will translate on your phone. You will have to set up the app to translate from Japanese to English.
