Hello,
I am not sure based on your question. But I can tell you this. Yes your transmission has to have fluid in it for the transmission to operate properly, However if your car has other engine running problems, like cuts out, runs rough, wont stay started, idles low or to high. Basically any engine running performance problems, this would have nothing to do with the transmission, Transmission would only have to do when it is running down the road. For example, if your transmission is low on fluid or not operating normal, you might have signs of it missing gears(slipping) or hard jerks in between shifts, or even possible load noises.
Now if your talking about like some people have down (old mechanical wife tale) about putting transmission fluid in where your engine oil is,then this is a
no no. It only helps to some degree as a cheap way to help lubricate seals. But, it is not designed for that per say, so it could cause other complications down the road. If you want to add something to your oil, there is a good product made by
LUCUS, that is a good oil additive for help with rings, and seals in your engine, they also make product for transmissions. I hope this helps you some. Thanks Mike from Fixya.
