Unable to close one of the rear automatic windows!

It only appears to be one side that doesn't close with the switch. When i open or close the rear windows with the switch in the overhead console, only the right side opens/closes, but the left side is permanently stuck open. Cold weather is upon us and this could be a serious problem, is there any way i can manually close it and just keep them in the closed position? I'm guessing taking it to a mechanic could result in a very time consuming and costly fix for such a small annoyance.

Hi there I've had the same think. The wiring harness under the carpet on the passenger side is corroded likely. Pull the carpet back and check the wiring. I've repaired the connections for the wiring and they have been working fine since.

SOURCE: Car power window failed - need to get closed

You would have to remove door panel and remove the two nuts fastening the window to the window motor regulator then slide window up and use tape to hold it up until you can get it repaired

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

SOURCE: 06 pontiac g6 sunroof stuck open, car was left in

by using a simple test light you can check each post individuly with the switch in each position also at the motor end check where the wires go into the motor have someone work the switch in each position and test each wire if you have fire going to the motor corrsponding to the switch position (you should have fire on at least one wire in both closed and another wire in the open position of the switch at the motor) and if so then your motor is probably out

"automatic" window on my 2005 mustang does not

So when it doesn't seal that means the tracks the window have been falling out typically. The door panel needs to come off to inspect the tracks. And if your driver side power window doesn't work, that typically means a seperate problem located in the switch itself. It could also be the wires, so you can run a seperate wire to test the switch by running it directly to the window motor, and pressing the switch down. This can easily be done while the door panel is off so you can hit two problems at the same time.

Own a 1996 Dodge Caravan. Power window doesn't work on drivers side, nor for the rear side windows. Replaced the power window switch and this did not solve the problem. The only window that works is...

nitescot, What you can try is to open up the rubber boot running from the body of the vehicle to the door. The constant opening and closing of the door will sometimes cause the wires inside the boot to break. This is a common problem when it comes to power windows. Open the boot with a knife being careful not to damage the wires inside. Look for any broken wires. Repair as necessary. Good luck with this.

Hello, I'm having a rear window operation problem with my 1995 Toyota 4 runner. The window no longer will retract. I do hear a slight "click" when I rotate the keyed switch in either direction...

On my 1989 4runner the problem was the contacts on the relays that close to open or close the rear window. They are located on the drivers side under the side panel near the rear seats on the 89. I looked up the part numbers on the relays and found they are a dealer only item. Using the current rating and the physical size of the connections and a relay interchange manual I found better ones for under $10. It has been a few years ago so I am unable to tell you the part number. I think I got them from Newark Electronics. Toyota only sells the entire circuit boar for several hundred dollars. Another option would be to get one at a wrecking yard.
