It only appears to be one side that doesn't close with the switch. When i open or close the rear windows with the switch in the overhead console, only the right side opens/closes, but the left side is permanently stuck open. Cold weather is upon us and this could be a serious problem, is there any way i can manually close it and just keep them in the closed position? I'm guessing taking it to a mechanic could result in a very time consuming and costly fix for such a small annoyance.

You would have to remove door panel and remove the two nuts fastening the window to the window motor regulator then slide window up and use tape to hold it up until you can get it repaired

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

by using a simple test light you can check each post individuly with the switch in each position also at the motor end check where the wires go into the motor have someone work the switch in each position and test each wire if you have fire going to the motor corrsponding to the switch position (you should have fire on at least one wire in both closed and another wire in the open position of the switch at the motor) and if so then your motor is probably out

the switch for the rear quarter glass is located on the roof consol above the rear view mirror

Hi there I've had the same think. The wiring harness under the carpet on the passenger side is corroded likely. Pull the carpet back and check the wiring. I've repaired the connections for the wiring and they have been working fine since.
