If the positive cable runs to the box and comes out the other side that's the starter relay. Make sure that the battery terminal contact surfaces are clean, then change the relay. First, make sure that voltage of battery does not drop below 9.5 volts when in start position...If it does, starter has failed.

Need to remove the starter and take it to an auto parts store and have it checked, Most likely you should have the starter relay checked first

Car won t start

There are a number of reasons why a car won't start:
1. the car has a cranking sound (turns over) but will not come on
- there is no fuel
- the fuel pump needs checking/replacing
- the spark plugs need replacing
- high tension wires need replacing

2. when switching the ignition there is only a single click or no sound

- the battery is flat/needs charging or replacement

- a fuse for one of the ignition components is blown and needs replacing

Hope these help in finding the cause or getting a clearer picture of the problem.

99 Dakota won't turn over just clicking

is it a continuous clicking or a single click. a single click usualy points to a loose or diry cable. could possibly be starter solenoid also or starter relay.

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

My lights, windows, and radio all work fine. But it won't start it makes a click noise but nothing. Then we thought it was the battery so we jumped it and now it won't even make no click noise at...

The "click" sound condition make us guess that could be a bad ignition switch or starter.

It turned out to be the starter. I first took the battery to have it tested and it was fine. Next, I took the starter apart and took it to Autozone to have it tested? and it was bad. It is not easy access to remove the starter. The intake manifold and exhaust system are in the way and need to be taken apart first. See instructions below:

- Take off Intake

- Take off Starter

Hope this helps (remember to rating this answer and leave some comment).

1995 geo tracker won't start. I've replaced everything except the ignition switch. It used to click when i turn the key, now it won't even click.

DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY AND RECONNECT, THIS SHOULD RESET THE BRAIN.

ALSO...WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, LISTEN TO HEAR IF YOU CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP COME ON...IF NOT, GUESS WHAT? HOPEFULLY NOT!... BUT,YOU MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, IF YOU CAN'T HEAR IT WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, AFTER YOU'VE RESET THE BATTERY!

HOPE THIS HELPS!
