I think i have an air block, either my water temp overheats or my oil temp overheats and my heaters are blowing cold, ive replaced the radiator, oil cooler, oil filter and seal and still getting problems. audi a4 1.8T 1996

Hi, Now i think you have more than 1 problem here,You need to first make sure your thermostat is`nt jammed shut,as you have a circulation problem, the 1.8 turbo engines also had problems with the water pump impellor falling off,it is possible you have a blowing head gasket which will stop the water circulating, have you checked to see that it is actually over heating and not just bad sensors giving false readings?,do you have oil in the water or water in the oil??,

Temp sensor silverado

Yes it would overheat without circulation, but the coolant doesn't circulate through the overflow tank. That reservoir only gets coolant into it when the coolant gets hot and expands and pushes the radiator cap seal up to let coolant into the reservoir. When the vehicle cools down, the coolant contracts and the lower level in the radiator will siphon the coolant out of the reservoir back into the radiator. Coolant circulation is from the engine to the radiator and back into the engine...and also through the heater core.
You may have an air block in the heater core. Check by taking off the outlet hose at the firewall or at the engine and see if you have a slow steady stream of coolant, with the engine running and heater controls on high heat. If it was an air block, a steady stream should quickly start. If you get little or no flow, the core may be plugged and need flushing backward or replaced.

Engine overheat and no heat

Maybe your radiator is clogged.

Overheating problem

i had something similar once, it ended up being the intake radiator hose, it has a metal coil inside, mine was broken and when you revved the motor it would **** the hose shut and overheat, but under 2000 rpm it was fine .

Engine overheats when heater pipes connected

I think you could be right about there being air trapped in the system.
Or the heater core(radiator) is plugged.
Either way you need a pressurized radiator coolant pump to put the coolant in without air being trapped.
Although,i have seen it done by jacking the vehicle up high enough that the radiator was now higher than the heater core level, and then the coolant was put in.
But this is dangerous to try.

2001 JEEP ..RADIATOR IS COLD

what is the water temp at the dash...leave the rad cap off until normal temp... might be an air lock. If the engine overheats fast and blows coolant out the filler then its a blocked radiator...why did you repace the thermostat

1995 ford windstar overheat after replacing the thermostat

Let your engine warm up with the rad. cap off and see if the coolant level drops. and make sure your overflow is full. It blows cold air because there is no water getting to the heater core. And it shows a normal(ish) temp because the water needs to be touching the temp. sensor. I really do think there is air in the system and there is not enough coolant but hard to tell from here. Also as with overheating any time make sure to check your oil and look for any coolant as the head gasket seldomly holds together if the motor overheats.
