Margaret, this is free public forum , demands don't play here (free)
and you double posted. why do that.? if you wish to elaborate
try posting below 1st post, as an add.
and for better help? why not post to a BMW forum. (faster)
and no car year, posted or car options listed.
Radio year, model and Car Cell phone options.
no matter.......
the first check on all electronics, is the fuse
most radios have 3 power sources, (to make all features work)
and fuses are on all 3.
have you tried all sources, AM/FM CD, MP3 USB (if opted) .
are all modes dead?
the next check is to try all buttons on the radio. ?
is there a mute button? if car has 4 speaker try the fader lever.
front to rear. left to right , still dead.?
cycle modes. radio, cassette, CD 6 pack , what ever, but do cycle them all as older cars the mode switch can stick.
The RDS is radio station text messages. for song titles.
including
time,
station identification and programme information.
if this part really works, the RDS part this means the radio is working, but the power amp is dead or muted.
try balance and fader.
many radios (1000s) have fuses in the radio for the speaker amp
that can blow. (shorted speaker wires a prime reason)
or some have in line fuse. and others are in the cars fuse box
which varies by maker or model year.
ok , im looking at the stock radio on level C stock 1991 radio
and even back when (stock to me) the is RADIO muting
so if your car has Cell phone muting bingo that.
and a fuse at rear of radio, (unstated purpose)
guessing,id say there is lamp that glows, CELL mute?
conclusion, no car year stated, or year radio of not origional.
