Tying to find crank sensor for 2002 Cadillac Seville std 4.6 liter

This answer covers 1999-2005 Cadillac Deville, Eldorado & Seville.
Example Engine:
2002 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L SFI DOHC HO 8cyl.

This engine has (2) Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensors: the Upper sensor is CKP sensor B, and the lower sensor is CKP sensor A (this is included for the OBD-II DTC codes - P0385 references Sensor B = upper CKP sensor, whereas P0335 references the lower CKP sensor (sensor A)).

Both crankshaft position sensors are located in the front of the engine just above the oil filter adapter. To access both CKP sensors, jack up vehicle on the passenger side, remove the oil filter, and the oil filter adapter, including the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch. See illustration.

The Oil Filter is the can-type object below the oil filter adapter, which includes the EOP switch. Recommend: remove oil filter with an oil filter socket/strap wrench, since it's close to the oil pan.

May i see the location of the crankshaft position sensor on '93 sable 3.0L

For the 3.0 Vulcan 12 valve engine, it's on the front of the engine, just up to the left of the crankshaft pulley. One illustration indicates about the 11:00 o'clock position relative to the pulley, and may be obscured by waterpump

I have a 1999 dodge durango. my wife went to get in it after work & it would'nt start. I replaced the coil and it started right up. A week later it did the same thing. Replaced the coil again but still...

could be crank sensor or possibly the auto shutdown relay. use a test light to check for voltage at the coil. Hook the test light clip to ground and back probe the dark green/orange stripe wire at the coil connector. With the key on, the light should light. If not, swap the relay with another similar one--say the horn relay and try again. If still no voltage, interrogate the relay socket per instructions here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check .
If there is power at the dark green wire, check the connector on the crankshaft sensor. I have pasted your wiring diagram as well as instructions for checking and replacing the cranks sensor below. Please let me know if you have questions.

Crankshaft Position Sensor TESTING On the 2.5L engine, the Crankshaft Position (CMK) sensor is located near the outer edge of the flywheel (or starter ring gear). On other models it is fitted to the right side of the engine block.
The only test you can perform without a DRBII scan tool, or equivalent, is a basic check of the sensor only.

  1. Disconnect the sensor harness connector from the main wire harness connector.
  2. Place an ohmmeter across terminals 1 and 2 (see the illustration). The meter reading should be open (infinite resistance). If a low resistance is read, replace the camshaft position sensor.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

All Except V-10 Engine

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly if necessary for access to the sensor.
  2. Disconnect the pigtail harness from the sensor.
  3. Remove the nut holding the sensor wire clip to the fuel rail mounting stud.
  4. Remove the sensor mounting hardware, then the sensor.
  5. Remove the clip from the sensor wire harness.

To install:
  1. Install the sensor flush against the opening.
  2. Install and tighten the bolts or nuts, as applicable.
  3. Install the electrical connector.
  4. Install the clip on the sensor wire harness.
  5. Install the clip over the fuel rail mounting stud. Install the clip mounting nut.

2.0L Engine SOHC ENGINE
  1. Remove the drive belt and timing cover.
  2. Raise the car and support it with safety stands.
  3. Remove the right-hand splash shield and the crankshaft pulley. Fig. 11: The timing marks on both the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys must be aligned like this before removing or installing the timing belt — 2.0L SOHC engines 90983g66.gif

  4. Align the timing marks as illustrated in the accompanying illustration.
  5. Refer to the accompanying illustration and remove the timing belt as follows:
    1. Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt (1).
    2. Use an 8mm Allen wrench, and turn the tensioner (2) counterclockwise 1⁄4 turn.
    3. Insert a 1⁄8 inch drill bit in the hole (3) to lock the belt tensioner in place.

    5. Inspect the belt for damage and signs of oil leakage. To install: NOTE: Install the timing belt over the sprocket in a counterclockwise direction starting at the crankshaft. Keep the belt span between the crankshaft and camshaft tight when installing the belt over the camshaft.
  6. Install the timing belt and remove the drill bit.
  7. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 15–22 ft. lbs. (20–30 Nm).
  8. Rotate the engine two complete revolutions and make sure the timing marks are aligned.
  9. Install the timing belt cover and crankshaft pulley.
  10. Install the right-hand splash shield and the drive belt.
  11. Start the car and check for proper operation.
DOHC ENGINE NOTE: A camshaft alignment timing tool (No. T94P-6256-CH or equivalent) and a crankshaft Top Dead Center (TDC) timing peg tool (No. T97P-6000-A or equivalent) are required for this procedure.   1. Remove the spark plugs.
  2. Rotate the crankshaft to TDC.
  3. Locate and remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (refer to the illustration) and install the TDC timing peg. Fig. 15: Remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and install the TDC timing peg 90983g70.gif

  4. Raise the car and support it with safety stands.
  5. Unfasten the splash shields bolts and remove the shield.
  6. Lower the car and remove the water pump pulley.
  7. Remove the valve cover and the timing belt covers.
  8. Align the camshafts and install the camshaft alignment tool on the back of the camshafts as illustrated. Fig. 16: Align the camshafts and install the alignment tool 90983g76.gif
    WARNING
    If the camshaft belt is being reused, mark the direction of the camshaft belt to the rotation of the camshaft prior to removal, or premature wear and belt failure could occur.
  9. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and relieve the tension on the belt by disconnecting the tensioner tab from the timing cover back plate.
  10. Slide the belt off the sprockets.

    To install:
  12. If, for any reason, the engine was disturbed, the camshafts moved or the sprockets replaced, perform the following procedure: NOTE: Make sure the correct notch in the pulley is indexed to the lower cylinder block.
    1. Position the crankshaft just prior to Top Dead Center (TDC).
    2. If not already done, locate and remove the plug bolt by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (refer to the illustration) and install the TDC timing peg.
    3. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the TDC peg. NOTE: Installation of the alignment tool into the exhaust camshaft may require the camshafts to be rotated clockwise.
    4. Install the camshaft alignment tool on the back of the camshafts.
    5. Install the timing belt and engage the timing belt tensioner tab into the upper timing cover backplate. NOTE: A 3⁄8 inch drive, 10mm, 2 inch torque adapter offset is required to tighten the tensioner bolt.
    6. Using a 6mm Allen wrench, adjust the tensioner until the index marks are aligned and tighten the bolt to 17–20 ft. lbs. (22–28 Nm).
    7. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise against the TDC alignment peg, then remove the camshaft alignment tool.
    8. Remove the TDC peg tool and install the plug bolt.
    9. Install the timing and valve covers.
    10. Install the water pump pulley and the splash shield.
    11. Install the spark plugs. If the engine or the camshaft were not disturbed in any way, or the sprockets were not removed, perform the following procedure:

Where is the crankshaft sensor on a v6 2000 chrystler sebring

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - 2.5L
REMOVAL
Remove speed control servo from driver's side strut tower.
Remove crankshaft position sensor retaining bolt Crankshaft Position Sensor
Pull crankshaft position sensor straight up out of the transaxle housing.
(Disconnect crankshaft position sensor electrical connector from the wiring harness connector.
INSTALLATION - ADJUSTABLE
All vehicles will be equipped with an adjustable crankshaft position sensor. This can be identified by an elongated mounting hole in the sensor.

NOTE: If the removed sensor is to be reinstalled, clean off the old spacer on the sensor face. A NEW SPACER must be attached to the sensor face before installation. If the sensor is being replaced, confirm that the paper spacer is attached to the face of the new sensor Crankshaft Position Sensor and Spacer

Install sensor in transaxle and push sensor down until contact is made with the drive plate. While holding the sensor in this position, install and tighten the retaining bolt to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.) torque.
Connect crankshaft position sensor electrical connector to the wiring harness connector.
Attach connector to heater tube bracket.
Install speed control servo. Tighten nuts to 9 N·m (80 in. lbs.) torque.

Jsut want to know where crankshaft position sensor

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.


2.3L Engine


The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

I need instructions on how to change a crank shaft censor on a 2000 pontiac grand prix gt

3.8L Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the serpentine belt(s) from the crankshaft pulley. Please see Section 1.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Remove the right front tire assembly. Remove the right inner fender access cover.
  5. A flywheel holding device such as GM's J 37096 is required to keep the crankshaft from turning as the crankshaft balancer is being removed. Install this holding tool or its equivalent. Please see Section 3 for more information.
  6. Using a 28mm socket, remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer retaining bolt. Using special tool J 38197 or equivalent balancer removal tools, drawn the balancer from the end of the crankshaft. Please see Section 3 for more information.
  7. There is a roughly circular aluminum shield that protects the crankshaft position sensor; remove this shield. Use care not to damage it. Do not pry to remove.
  8. Detach the electrical connector from the crankshaft position sensor, remove the attaching bolts and separate the sensor from the engine block face.

Dual Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor removal—3.8L Engines

To install:
  1. Clean all parts well. Position the crankshaft sensor to the block face and tighten the bolts to 14–28 ft. lbs. (20–40 Nm).
  2. Install the crankshaft position sensor shield. Verify that the electrical connector is secure.
  3. Install the crankshaft balancer. Please see Section 3.
  4. Torque the crankshaft balancer center bolt to 110 ft. lbs. (150 Nm), plus an additional 76 degrees.
  5. Install the inner fender access cover and the right front tire assembly. Wheel nut torque is 104 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Install the serpentine belt(s), as outlined in Section 1.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

i acn give the position of the crankshaft
it is located on the rim of the bell housing at 11:00 if you are facing front, 1:00 if you are standing in the front looking back.

Crankshaft Position Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

  1. Serpentine belt from the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  3. Right front tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Right inner fender access cover.
  5. Using a 28 mm socket, remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer retaining bolt.
  6. Crankshaft harmonic balancer using tool J 38192 or equivalent.
  7. Sensor electrical connector.
  8. Foreign object deflector.
  9. Sensor and pedestal from block face.
  10. Sensor from pedestal.
INSTALL OR CONNECT:

  1. Loosely install the crankshaft sensor on the pedestal.
  2. Position the sensor with pedestal attached on special Tool J 37089.
  3. Position the special tool on the crankshaft.
  4. Bolts to hold the pedestal to the block face, torque to 20-40 Nm (14-28 lb.ft).
  5. Torque the pedestal pinch bolt to 3-4 Nm (38-40 lb.in).
  6. Remove special tool J 37089.
  7. Place the special tool 37089 on the harmonic balancer and turn. If any vane of the harmonic balancer touches the tool, replace the balancer assembly.
  8. Balancer on the crankshaft.
    • Apply thread sealer (GM 1052080) or equivalent to the threads of the balancer bolt.
  1. Torque the crankshaft bolt to 140 Nm + 56°(104 lb.ft + 56°).
  2. Foreign object deflector.
  3. Electrical connector.
  4. Inner fender shield.
  5. Tire and wheel assembly, torque to 140 Nm (104 lb.ft).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Serpentine belt.
