You damaged the ignition switch and it will not recognize key you have to replace the tumbler and ignition switch the key acts like an electronic switch in most modern vehicles put key in and its recolonized and will turn and start vehicle ---damage to key or tumbler sets off anti theft and you have no start ---in future dont try to hot wire or pop ignition when keys are lost (thats all hollywood) go to dealer with vin and proof of ownership and they can cut you a new key

SOURCE: 68 camaro no keys should I drill out the ignition?

a drill will do it but you run the risk of damage if the
drill binds or breaks off in the lock.
If i remember correctly the door lock uses the same
key if it was mine i would remove the door lock and
take it to a chevy dealer or lock smith and have a couple made.
if you have any other ? give us a shout good luck

I couldn't find my spare key to my Subaru I so I figured I would just drill out the ignition because I still have my key fob but i finally found my key and nownmy ignition won't turn. please help asap

Are you kidding me?? Who would do that? You will have to buy an ignition lock set from Subaru and install the new ignition switch. Last I knew the set ( you have to buy the whole lock set to get the ignition switch) was well over $100. Then you have to deal with the anti-theft bolts the hold the steering lock, that holds the ignition switch, which requires special tools.
That was an expensive hole you drilled.

1997 taurus key won't turn in the ignition, gear selector won't go into gears

Usually a sign the tumblers in the lock cylinder have worn out or jammed.
You may have to get the lock cylinder drilled out and replaced.

Replace cylinder without the old key (lost). I have depressed the retaining pin ok, but the cylinder seems 'sticy' and won't pull out. How hard is it supposed to be to pull the old cylinder out...

The problem you are experiencing is because the retainint pin will not push in unless the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position. This cannot happen if you do not have the key.

If the key is lost or the cylinder will not turn for any other reason, then the retaining pin must be DRILLED out using a 1/8" drill bit. (see picture)

NOTE: When drilling out the retaining pin, take care not to damage the cover cast housing or the hazard flasher switch.

ok you will need a puller to remove the stering wheel once you have it off you will
see a phillups screw holding the ignition in. once the screw is out you will have to
play with it but it will come out.

Removing and replacing ignition switch for 91' toyota previa

the only way i found that you can replace the ignition switch is to take it to somebody who has a strong enough drill bit, they will then have to drill out the rods that appear to be welded in, the guys at the dealership ended up really struggling and i got stuck with a big bill,
by the way any auto parts store charge you about $100 for the ignition switch as well as $100 for the lock cylinder which chances are you will need at that point, especially if you have the problem any of the older toyotas have, which is keys broke off in the ignition,
for as great of vehicles as toyota has made you would thinnk the keys would be stronger, but my previa van is the third i have owned and is the third that had a key that broke in it, and this one eventually stopped turning with only have a key, and $300 later and after every homie of mine who was a mechanic telling me they were lost on this ignition, and it is running again, so best of luck to any who check this out mcl
Why use a drill bit? A 4.5 mm metal drill did the job for me in approx. 2 minutes. (A 91 model though).
