2005 Suz. Swift The engine light blinks when I am driving, then my car will sputter, and stall completely. I usually can shut the car off and turn it back on and it will run. What's wrong? Thanks!

The check engine light will come on when the management computer detects a fault that can affect exhaust emissions. When that happens the computer switches to a get you home programme and records a fault code.

A code read is required to discover the fault which should then be verified by independent tests before wasting money chasing down blind alleys.

No one knows until you connect the appropriate scanner to the vehicle to see what fault codes are being generated by the computer. There could be numerous codes.

You need to take the car to a Suz dealer or to a competent mechanic as soon as possible to have the fault codes read and then each of them properly diagnosed to pin point the cause. Repairs can then be undertaken. Don't ignore the warnings and just keep driving the car . If the problem is a significant one the engine may go to limp mode or just shut down and you will not be able to restart it.

Go to nearest autoparts supplier and they usually will scan for codes free of charge, and point you in right direction of part(s) required to correct the problem . If your still not sure, write down the codes and get back to me/us.

I think it would start by having the battery load tested or if its the original battery it's probably due for replacement.

bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor
open and close the key 3 times and write down the codes tha come up on the cluster

its the temp sensor it helps control the fueling and run it too rich till it floods and cuts out

go to somewhare that can get ur engine code then ull be able to google it and be able to find out what the problem is

could be a sticking idle air control valve... a little cylinder on the side of your throttle body.. it helps control your idling air fuel ratio.. this goes bad could cause your problems... also easy for you to replace... normally 2 small bolts and a harness.. usually run about 35-85 dollars.. check price and if it's about 35 or so.. i'd go ahead and change it anyways.. 9 years it's probly due.. :D
