I'd be thinking that the switch is defective.
The hazard lights are there for a reason so I would not disable them.
My suggestion?
Get the switch checked.

Testimonial: "Thank You Ted! Can I disconnect at the switch? If lights go and stay off that would assume the switch is bad?"

    Hi Todd:
Depending on your vehicle the switch may be isolated or, possibly integral with other functions. If it's isolated it may be attached by blade connectors or a plug. Disconnecting it should stop the function. If it does not, you have sppoky gremlins.

Don't forget, your rear emergency flashers typically share the turn signal and brake light bulb/circuit.
Disabling the flasher may lose the others as well.

Update....We have do have spooky gremlins...LOL! I pulled the switch and it was attached to a small circuit board (No wires). I disconnected the board and switch entirely and the hazards were still flashing. I put everything back together and lights were still flashing. I hit the button one last time and everything is off at least for now....So Confused!!!

    Right.
Now, NEVER touch that switch again unless there is an emergency.
    Cheerfuls!

I'm not convinced it doesn't come back on again. I think its a fluke and the switch is messing with me.

Hazard lights going all the time when key is out

You didn't mention the kind of vehicle but I hunch you Hazard/4 Way switch is on or broken, If you can move the hazard switch and nothing happens replace the switch some are attached the the turn signal switch. I hope this helps. Take Care.

My 2013 VOLVO XC60 hazard lights just came on by themselves while driving and now I cannot get them to go off.

Sounds like a shorted hazard switch. Unplug the switch and see if it stops. I have had issues with them not working and failing. Replace the switch if the issue goes away

Kia hazard lights stay lashing even when the vehicle is not running and wont stop flashing

Has the HAZARD switch been activated? If the switch is off then there may be a problem with the switch or the flasher module.

Why does my hazard lights come on and stay on while driving

If they magically start when the car is started, this is probably an aftermarket alarm being activated. It will cause the marker lights to flash for a period of time.

Turn signals wont turn on before they would turn on after 10 or 20 minutes into driving but now they wont. but the hazard lights do work. I heard that it may be the flasher module.

I can't see it as being the flasher unit as it is used for both hazard & tuns signal lights,it is more likely a wiring problem or the turn signal switch that is faulty, check the wiring to make sure that there are no wires loose or connectors unplugged.....hope this helps......cheers.

The hazard lights are sticking on and draining the battery

Hi.

Replace the hazard lights switch.

Series 3 hazard light switch malfunctions are quite common. The switch may not work, or like in your case, it may short and drain the battery. You can find the procedure to remove the switch summarily described on this forum.

The switch can be tested disconnecting it from wires, and using an Ohmmeter on its contact to ensure it is opening and closing fine, and not sticking.

If the switch is fine, wiring, alarm system and crash sensor must be tested. The most common reason for this kind of problem is the switch itself.

Hazard lights wont come when you push hazard button turn signals will not work push it again and they work

it sounds like the relay has gone for your hazard lights, when you press the button to turn them on, it will disconect the power to the main indicators hence wont work when hazards pused in, try locating either the hazard flasher unit, or the relay , have you checked the fuses?

Hazard lights flash by themselves, doors won't stay locked (unlock by themselves) key fob won't work.

I has a similar problem and I just took the battery out of my remote. I think there is a problem/ short in the remote. It's as if the button is being pressed when it is not. I will use my spare one in the mean time. It was driving me crazy becuase I was driving long distance at the time and when I removed the battery it stopped. I hope this works for you!
