SOURCE: 2003 Saturn Ignition and Security System Troubles

Sorry to say but it's probably the BCM (body control module) that's going in her car. The BCM controls everything inside your car, from the gauges, locks, daytime running lamps, ABS... and yes the security system. I have a 2003 L200 which had the same problem and I had to replace the BCM at some cost ($400-$600) depending on where you go. The L-Series Saturns seem to have a problem with their BCMs and it seems that it's pretty prevalent. Unfortunately it will only get worse as time goes on and it's not something that you can do yourself as it needs to be programmed by the dealer. You also will need to get your remotes reprogrammed as well with the new BCM. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 97 Pontiac GTP will not always start, turn

Yes,..

From the sounds of it check whats called your vehicles drive gear linkage. It's what tells the car it's in gears of neutral, drive, reverse etc,..

When the linkage isn't set proper the ignition sequence doesn't know if the car is really in park, neutral, drive or reverse and won't start it via that minor adjustment.

How to fixed wont start engine..

test the following and fix it. GOD BLESS you.fe35589e-c7d2-4fa3-a813-99841956a6cb.gif
If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery;
If the battery checks out OK, but the starter still won't crank, there could be a number of possible reasons. Here are some of them:

• The ignition switch could be bad - it's a common problem. An ignition switch is an electrical switch installed at the back of the ignition lock mechanism. If jiggling the key in the ignition helps start the car, the ignition switch should be checked first.
• The starter solenoid control wire could have a bad connection.
• The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad.
• A neutral safety switch is bad. If a car doesn't start with the transmission in Park, but starts in Neutral, it could be caused by a problem with a neutral safety switch.
.
• A problem with vehicle's security system or some other electronic control module (e.g., ECM, BCM) may also prevent the starter from operating.

Much cost replace starter

Sounds like the neutral safety switch. The switch is usually mounted on the steering column near the floor.
You may be able to crank the engine in neutral instead of park when the problem occurs.

My 2000 lincoln ls doesn't crank or click when trying to start it, it does nothing? all the lights work, radio, signals and horn, I checked the fuel relay and the starter relay and the ignition fu

Sounds like an Ignition Module or similar device. Does it have an alarm? Turn the key to ON - not start - and put into Drive and then back into Park. It may be the shifter isn't fully engaged. Also, w/your FOOT ON THE BRAKE shift to Neutral and try to start it.

Problems starting problem is intermitent helps to move shifter out of park and put it back

It's sounds like the neutral safety switch is bad. When you turn the key to start the power goes from the ignition switch, to the neutral safety switch then, to the starter solenoid. When you say starting problem I'm assuming it won't even crank over. The car should also start in the "Neutral" position, there is an adjustment on that switch to, it may just be out of adjustment. If it cranks over but won't start then I don't see how the neutral safety could be the problem. The neutral safety switch is right on top of the transmission directly under the master cylinder for the brakes. You should be able to see where the shift cable connects to the transmission.

1990 mercury cougar will not start with key. Have relaced starter solenoid and ignition switch.

Try checking the neutral saftey switch.a good way to do this is to put the car in neutral and try to start,if your shifter is loose try jiggling it with the key turned with your foot on the brake. If the car starts while doing this then it is more than likely that the neutral start switch is bad or that the shifter or the linkage is loose and causing bad contact on the switch.
