2000 chevy silverado c 1500 cluster malfunction then engine shuts down , any ideas

    i would start by unpluging my tach.it comes directly from ignition.might be grounding out.

You should check your battery connections, and your alternator. All your instruments are electric, and work only when the alternator is charging and the battery is hooked up correctly. A loose connection can cause this problem immediately, while an alternator problem will cause the instruments to fail first, then once the battery runs down, the engine will stall. Also, don't forget to check BOTH ends of the battery cables.

That is a vacuum leak. Chevy uses engine vacuum to move HVAC doors and turn valves off / on. You will have to get your HVAC control panel out to see which hose goes where. Yes this can cause an engine ECU to code.

07 chevy silverado 5.3 auto trans.

I have a 2000 GMC that does that also, only mine wont slow down unless i turn it off and retsart, only does it when engine is really warm.
