I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4wd drive 6 cyl car. There is a push button on the dash to activate the 4 wheel drive. Last week I was driving and the 4 wheel activated. On this car there is a green blinking light on the dash cluster which will blink and then go solid to tell you that you are in 4 wheel drive. My problem is the car is in 4 wheel drive in LOW. The 4 wheel knob will not move at this point. But the green light on the cluster is still blinking. I have been researching and asking people and here are thinks they say: 1. The switch is defective. 2. You have a bad transfer case 3. You have a vacuum leak I do not see any loose hoses 4. You have a bad actuator. I do not know where to turn or what to do. Any ideas from some of you that might have had this problem come up with your car?

is the switch is bad. why not unplug it and test. for the auto engage failure....
what kind of system do you have is the first question.
TOD? there are many systems.
ever consider getting a real FSM for the car and study the topic
first or use alldata.com and read how it works first.
then lay in traps to find it. (what I do to find intermittent)
you're stuck in low, now, and that is bad. not good for dry pavement.
this is a trooper, is yours, like this TOD, see how complex it is.
dont expect our jeep guys to fix this , efficiently.. next time buy jeep? and get 1000x better support, not bugged out Isuzu's

very good , 1st step, know how it works first....
he uses the tech2 scan tool. you will not have one.
find a shop that does??

note he said place the system in the diagnostic mode. 9min in.
then jump the DLC connector (this is the TCM jump)
the T-case has sensors and solenoids and PWM controls.
and a TCM brain, "transmission control modules" (or even found inside PCM)
and dash lights and that switch.
keep in mind, old cars can fail in any odd way.
not just a switch,
its just logic and remote gears. (as in all computers (tcm)
1: inputs wrong. , (sensors in trans, or dash) and more lots more..
2: bad TCM or tcm outputs stuck for any reasons.
3: bad transfer case or its sensors, and actuators,,,
input, >>>>processs>>>output.
to get out of low, jack up one wheel. and get pressure off the drive line. now switch out of low range.
check fuses.
scan the PCM
do the DLC jumper test.
