This is not a typical do it yourself type of job. Camshaft and lifters should only be done by a professional. Any other internal engine work too.

SOURCE: hydrolic lifters making a taping noise

First thing to do is change oil and filter. Hopefully it has not done this long and has hard faced the shims. Good luck and have a good day.

SOURCE: upper engine knock

I had the same problem with my 1999 Cobra Convertible, it sounded like valve problem, but ended up being, a wrist pin noise! Replaced the enging and trans, found a new Engine thru Trans, with everything on it for $4300, sold the old one (with the noise) on e-bay, for $4300 plus shipping.
The drivetrain now has about 10k miles on it, no problems! Have someone check for wrist pin noise!
This is a Roush Cobra Convertible, I will sell for $12,500, with a new top! Pictures avalible!

SOURCE: bad valve cover gasket, misfire and tapping lifter.

what do you mean with 'bad valve cover' ?I asume it is leaking oil.it means that the rubber seal is not sealing anymore,it has gone hard.tighten the cover bolts sometimes seals it for a while.to get to the rubber seals the inlet manifold has to be unbolted and moved,a fairly involved procedure but easy to do if you have a manual and standard handtools. The misfiring is likely stray arching of the coils .remove the top plastic cover of the motor andlook when it is very dark [like lightsof in your garage] and look for sparking. If so ,replace sparkplugs or/and leads.[remove inlet manifold also]Tapping lifter, works with oil,try engine oil flush and/or change oil brande.if problem persist replace lifter, lifter undervalve cover

SOURCE: I have a 2007 Chrysler 300. I have a knocking

If your 300 is equipped with a 3.5L engine, high miles, sretched oil changes, the only fix is replacing the rocker shaft assemblys,
they come complete with updated lash adjusters, remove the intake, coils, covers, and rockers, should take you about a couple of hours. there is no cheap fix, sorry. GOOD LUCK. RDJRP

What would cause a knocking in the motor/engine of a 2010 Chrysler town and Country Touring

A Defective hydraulic valve lifter will make noise, it would be tapping noise, they can be very loud, but I would really need to hear what this is to determine the cause.

I have a 2007 Chrysler 300 v6 2.7 litre an when starting an pushing on the gas it makes a knocking noise I've been told its a lifter how or were are them located on the motor an can u replace them

They are located under the valve covers and you may or may not need to replace. I'd evaluate them a bit first and see if adjusting them doesn't work better.

I have a 1989 dodge caravan 3.0 and it got low on oil and started knocking i took the valve cover off and it has hydraulic lifters and one of them is real soft would this mean a bad one and the cause of...

Most probably the lifter has gone bad, but if it is a LOUD knocking sound, it is possible one of the crankshaft / connecting rod bearings has been damaged. Usually a bad valve gives more of a "clicking" sound.
A bad camshaft lobe will also cause a "knocking" sound usually with an engine with high mileage.

Constant knocking on or off the accelerator I thought it was the rods then was told lifters don't know where the lifters are so i can look at them

Lifters would tick or rattle. A knock is usually lower in the engine, a rod or piston in most cases. The lifters are under the valve covers.

Sounds like lifter noise but took valve cover off dont see where ther would b lifters double cams 2.2 motor

You should have watched a You Tube Video

That would be cleaner & easier than removing
the valve cover

I guess you never considered that you have overhead
cams & the lifters are buried in the heads & can't see or
get to them

Is that a chrysler product ? Somewhat common issue

WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING IT TICKS LOUDLY AND WHEN U ACCELERATE IT TICKS FASTER.

A worn valve lifter or a loose rocker arm is causing that noise. To find out which one it is, the valve covers have to come off and check each one. If the rocker arms are snug, then it's a lifter, in which case the whole top part of the engine has to come off to get at the lifters.

Valve lifter clatter or ticking?

Try a higher grade octane fuel and see if that eliminates the noise some. Wait til it's almost empty and put the highest grade fuel and drive for a bit and see if you notice a any change. Sometimes the valves get dirty and you start getting a bit of a tap. Also try an additive that removes carbon deposits. Sometimes it's normal when you cold start the vehicle to hear some tapping, but after warm up it should go away.

My car is having the same problem engine valve

If its a Chrysler factory problem then yes but if its not then its yours but the lifter problem can be fixed by removing rocker covers and see if its not getting the oil to them as it could be the oil filter needs changing
Check it out first before jumping up and down at them .
HOW many miles has it done Ron

Loud engine knocking

Valve/lifter problem will certainly sound that way, however it should not necessarily make it overheat. You didn't clarify which engine it is, since valve covers could be removed easily, maybe 3.3? If there is a damaged lifter, then there is going to be metal filings in the pan, so if you fix the problem, oil and filter will have to be changed. It sounds like maybe they did not install one on the valves on that head correctly and maybe not the heads were installed right. You could even have piston damage from that valve. I would suggest that you take it to a mechanic to look at it if you are not capable of fixing it yourself. If you can't afford the repairs, there is always cars out there for that run good for what it would cost to repair yours if the motor has to be torn down. Rick
