Most likely the receiver inside the radio. When antennas come loose, the radio will still pick up a signal when you thumb through the stations. There will be static, but you can hear the station.

2014grand caravan fm stations all static

Most likely the antenna lead has come unhooked from the back of the radio. AM stations will pick up with the internal working of the radio, but FM stations have to have a working antenna to work. Also make the antenna is tight to the vehicle .

If you pick up FM. It isn't the antenna. It's an internal radio problem.

It sounds like you are just in a weak reception area. If you feel this is not the case first try replacing the entire antenna assembly, it would be the primary cause of this type of problem.

Installing a new Sony radio/ cd player. Several post reference an internal "antenna booster" but cannot find anything about which wires to supply power to this booster. Please help, can't get...

here is some free advice, antenna boosters simply amplify the radio signal AND the static so there is no increase in sound quality, plus they pick up all that nice spark plug noise. the upshot is that if you spend money to buy one you will find yourself taking it back out and tossing it or pawning it off on some ****** via eBay.

Common problem... first, the antenna isn't connected directly to the radio... sometimes the junction points will crack and separate... second, sometimes the radios, radio tuner will go bad. if you have a Cherokee (not a Grand Cherokee) check you passenger side kick panel (location of a common antenna connection weak point) . Some genius placed a spring in the connection... just pull the spring out, reconnect and tape the connection together... Let me know if this helped at all... if the connections are all good, you will have to replace the radio... but, from what you described you wont have to...
