The AC keeps cutting in and out?

The AC keeps cutting in and out. It will work for five minutes with good output and then it will blow only hot air. Or work for only half a drive. Or the air conditioning stop working for a few days and then start working again. The problem is not associated with acceleration. Changing the air compressor did not help. Any ideas?

Check relay possible over heating--but when compressor was changed was the system vacuum tested/and vacuum held at 20 so any moisture in will be evacuated out of system if that wasnt done the system ices up and cycles on and off--low on freon is also causes short cycling but sounds like moisture in system

New compressor? Was it filled enough? High pressure switch could be on it's way out. Especially if it did it before the compressor change. The relay could also be going out. Swap it with another.

My 1980 450sl AC works good while in park, when I start driving it blows hot air could this be a vaccum problem?

Well, yes they did borrow the system from Chrysler and the main problem was with the main controller unit where you adjust the temp and has the controls. They were known to separate at the unit allowing vacuum to leak and to cause this problem as well. Typically when it is running, you should be able to put your fingers at the rear of the unit and find the vacuum leak that way.

AC will blow cold air for a few minutes then start blowing hot air, cut the engine and start it again and blow cold air for a few minutes then start blowing hot air again. Just filled up the freon and the...

you have moisture in the system this causes your expancion valve to freeze up an stop working, thats why it works for sort time and when it de-freezes stars working again. you need to do a EVAC & RECHARGE with a good AC service equipment, specially attention to pull vacumm por at least 20minutes so you get all moisture out of the system.
Good luck

AC blows hot air but AC compressor works

if the compressor works and your freon is charged it may be the blower flapper door....disconnect battery for 10 minutes and then re-connect to reset the electronics that control the flapper

Hot air blows but cools down in 15-20 seconds.

You likely have a restriction in the heater coolant hose circuit - perhaps a coolant control valve not fully opening, or a kinked hose.
Insufficient coolant volume is flowing to keep the heater core hot.
Try back flushing the heater core system with a garden hose to check flow.
