The exterior back handle does not seem to be connected to the opening linkage. I need to see if I just need to replace the tabs that connects the handle to the linkage or the handle itself. Since it's shut, I'm not sure haw the panel comes off. Pull straight out? Push up and pull? Push down and pull? Pretty tight fit with door in down position.

Some linkage maybe broken on the door handle. Door panel removal instructions are availablel on line www.carstereohelp.com/strford.htm but determining the problem will have to be found on your own.
SOURCE: Driver side door lock seems mechanically "stuck"
there are several screws you have to remove remove the trim piece around the inside handle the panel lifts off dont pry it off or it will break the door latch usually binds and has to be replaced
SOURCE: Driver side exterior door handle pulls the locking
Take the door panel off the inside of the door. (Should involve screws at the bottom, plus bolts through the interior handle. Then pull out at the bottom, and lift upward Google for expedition door panel removal for more specifics if needed).
It sounds like the exterior handle linkage is binding against the lock button linkage. Actually looking in while pulling the handle would confirm. You then should be able to just bend the rods a bit to move them apart.

I just want to know if there is any manual to disarm the lift gate and check for the problem. Currently my door is lock and cant open, how you force it to open?

Hi im afraid their is no easy solution for this, if you took it to a garage they would just cut holes in the door card so they can put the rod back on that operates the locking mechanism, now as you cant open it from either in or out then this suggests that the rod that connects the lock to the door mechanism has fell off and is not unlocking the door when you press the button or open the lock.
before you do anything though try this with all the doors locked push the drivers door shut as hard as you can as if your trying to force it further shut than it is keep this pressure on the door so sort of put your bum on the door and lean up it so your pushing the door shut further, keeping this pressure on get someone else to unlock the doors either by having them in the car and lock the doors from the inside then unlock them again whilst your still pushing the door now when the other doors have all unlocked try opening the drivers door release the pressure your putting on it then try the handle and see if it opens, sometimes its can just be a sticky lock and doing this will sometimes get it open for you.
now failing that the only option you have is to either cut the door card off ( i know this is not what you want to do) or try and take the door card off without damaging it, now this is near impossible but can be done, you may get the side off nearest where the door lock is with the other hlaf stuck to the door as if your bending the door panel slightly, now it is triky but try doing this.
slide the drivers seat back as far as you can.
then undo all the screws you can get to in the door card/panel remember to take out all the ones ins the handle and the plastic bit at the bottom, you should be able to get to these by sliding the seat backwards and forwards and using a stuby screwdriver you may just get most of the screws out, now once most of them are out make sure seat is right back and then try pulling the door card off the door it will also be held on by plastic clips as well as screws so once the screws are out you will still need to pull it off the little plastic clips that run along the edge of the door panel. now once you have got it off slightly you should be able to get your hand inside the door and feel where the lock is then you should be able to feel the loose bar thats fell off well this bar should run to where the door lock is located now if you give this bar a pull towards the front of the car your door should open, once its open you can get the panel fully off then you can reconect this bar thats fell off its only pushed into a plastic clip with a fold over metal clasp that holds it in place.
its this metal clasps thats worked its way off causing the door to stay locked.
it wont be easy but its the only chance you have got before the door panel gets damaged by cutting it.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
