REPLACING A HEATER CORE IS EXPENSIVE mine went in my 99 calavier and it would have cost 1200 to do becauseof the labour it take the mechanics to do, so just do the math is it worth to fix or just get another vehicle. that 1200 bucks could be a nice down payment on a newer car.
If the problem is infact the heater core, it could be very costly to put a new one in, I suggest looking at junk/scrap yards for a used one for your car.
No one, except someone who has replaced one on this exact same vehicle can tell you. Replacing the heater core is the easy part. Getting to the heater core is the hard part. Basically you just have to remove enough parts to allow access to the core. Take photos as you go along so as not to get confused when you reverse the procedure. This is a very labour intensive repair and for that reason it is a very costly repair. Good luck.
