First it is a junkyard or dealer item. I know what you need but don't know the name. Vacuum junction box is what I call it. There are many shapes and sizes. I call a dealer, tell them what I am looking for. They fax a picture and I pick out there number.

Would this cause the engine to lose power and idle roughly? Also would it cause my transmission to make a loud clunk when placing in gear?I noticed this when I drove it half a mile.

  • Randy Ohler Jul 29, 2015

No, it would cause the engine to rev higher than normal. The cluck could be there because of higher RPM's. This could be a bad engine or transmission mount.

I used a high temperature silicone and vacuum hose over the hole on the junction box and connecting steel line.Car runs normally now

So glad you found a cheap fix. I fix charcoal canisters this way. Except I heat the steel tube up and melt it into the canister and the fitting/nipple that broke. The silicone it lightly. Works every time.

SOURCE: brakes

Flexible brake lines are probably balooning out causing pressure not to build up, replace flexible to the calipers.

SOURCE: Excessive Oil consumption, 1995 Bonneville Vin K 3.8

The PCV valve gets it's vacuum from the plenum itself. Some 3.8L have different types of connections on the top of the valve (electrical or mechanical), but none have a vacuum line on them.

If you replaced the lower intake gaskets, it is very likely they crushed around the intake bolts. This will cause oil to leak into the intake and pool in the recesses of the lower intake. You are also likely to be leaking anti-freeze.

This is a very common problem with OEM gaskets. After market gaskets made by Fel-Pro have metal rings in them specially to stop this problem. They are available at NAPA and other stores.

SOURCE: after replacing master cylinder, right rear wheel

when you are bleeding the system with the engine stopped ,you are pumping the brake pedal and fighting against the resistance of the vacuum chamber spring and you are not getting full pedal motion when bleeding. When you start the engine ,the vacuum created by the engine overcomes the spring force and allows the brake pedal to compress the brake piston itself and show the real position of the master cylinder piston.Start the engine while bleeding the brakes.

SOURCE: Fiat Uno Pacer - Brake Booster not assist braking

it could be that the master cylinder is bad or the brake booster is bad also check the vacum hose going to the brake booster if it has a hole in it it will lose pressure and make the engine lose rpms

Is it a serpentine belt? If so, there should be a small pulley, called a tensioner. Loosen that, and you should be able to remove & replace your belt.
