I can lock the car even if the trunk is open, is this normal, or something wong with it?

My 2009 Volvo allows me to lock the doors and leave the boot open so I would think that is normal as you can see the boot is open so won't walk away.

Can I access the trunk of a 1992 Voltswagen Cabriolet from the inside?

Hi Sally, You'll need to remove the seat cushion (the lower part where people sit) At the bottom of the backrest there are bolts holding it in place. Once these are removed, lift the seat upwards removing it from the retainers. Depending on the model you may need to cut (or have cut) an opening through the bulkhead Be very careful of sharp edges when reaching through the opening. Depending on how badly damaged the boot is you may need to get assistance to open the boot. Once open it may not stay closed again so be careful of that too. Regards John

Trunk will not open !

The trunk lock is incorporated in the central locking system. This means that you can either lock or unlock the trunk by means of either of the front doors. You can also operate the trunk lock directly with the master key even if the vehicle is centrally locked.

Are you sure it is the Master Key? Try the key in the glove box lock. The power door locks should unlock the trunk for you turn the key if it is right over to the right turn it right over to the left . you turn the key to far right to stop the boot been opened when the doors are not closed.

Keep us updated.

ALARM GOES OFF ON ITS OWN. IT DOES NOT RESET.

try this:

1. find the trunk (boot) sensor (plunger) and tape it in the down position.

2. recharge the battery.

3. close the trunk and rearm the alarm.

4. listen for the alarm to go off. if it does proceed to step 6. if not see step 5.

5. the travel is too large for this trunk sensor. must have been caused by the accident. you can build up the area with some velcro or tape where the plunger meets the metal to make the travel less, thus making the alarm system think the trunk is not opened when the trunk is closed. or this sensor was damaged by the accident which will to be replaced.

6. the trunk sensor is not the problem. untape it and proceed to the hood (bonnet) sensor. tape it down and repeat steps 1-4 for the hood sensor.

7. keep repeating on the other sensors (doors, fuel door) until you find the sensor causing the problem.

good luck
