1996 f250 5 speed manual. Clutch must be to the floor before I can get it into gear. Is this normal?

No, your clutch is controlled by a slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. Check your clutch master cylinders fluid level first, if its high, your clutch is starting to wear down. Next, on the bottom of your transmission there will be an inspection cover, remove and check with a suitable flashlight if the clutch slave cylinder is leaking, if so, replace both clutch master cylinder and cslave cylinder. Stay away from slave cylinders that you have to build yourself such as those at autozone! Bleeding of these components will be required.

Chevy l989 4X4 5 speed manual clutch not working

Almost every time a clutch is replaced in a GM with hydraulic release system that system is replaced as well. You can try, and try, and try again to bleed it, but you will eventually replace the clutch slave and master cylinders. Once the slave is allowed to fully extend, it is then virtually impossible to make it function correctly again.

Clutch sticks on 1989 audi 100.is it hydrualic?It is engaged even with the pedal down.does it intermittantly.this is a 5 cyl.eng. w/a 5 speed

hi, depending on the model, you may have a mechanical clutch. if there's a clutch master and slave cylinder under the hood, its hydraulic. the main issue here is that your pressure plate. you will need to replace this. this will fix the issue.

Clutch works fine until. except that it doesnt

I don't have that shop manual, but the slave cylinder looks like a small brake master cylinder and is on the firewall on the driver side.
Check to make sure floor pan is not split by slave cylinder. Some had weak floors that needed reinforcing. Ford had a kit.

Otherwise, replace slave cylinder. tascafordparts.com sells at discount.

1989 Toyota Camry

Hi,

On an 89 Toyota Camry with manual transmission, two possible reasons:
  • clutch;
  • release bearing
Try bleeding the clutch on the slave cylinder. If this does not prove to be corrective, you may have to have the transmission/clutch checked/repaired/replaced. In some instances, it could just be a sticking release bearing or clutch fork.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
