SOURCE: 96 lexus es 300 blinking check engine light

Hi there;

#4 Miss-fire. All the things you are saying make a lot of sense. When the light is blinking the cylinder is actualy misfiring, & the smell you are smelling is the fuel that is not burning in the engine burning in the exahst. This can cause a lot of damage to the exausht if it is not repaired..
There is still a couple of things that need to be checked, first he needs to check to see if it is possibly a fuel injector that is sticking. He can do this easily by moving the #4 injector to another cylinder & run the car. When it starts missfiring he will need to see if it is still #4 or if it is the cylinder that he moved the injector to. if it is the new cylinder it is obviously the injector, if it is still #4 he will need to look into the possibility of the EGR valve sticking open or some other issue to do with valve timing or low compression.
I hope this helps
Farrout!

SOURCE: 2003 Toyota Camry Se V6 has a check engine light

I had the same problem, then took my car to an expert repair shop who diagnosed the sensors and
found no problem with the car. They notified the DMV who was unaware of the problem, who then told the repair shop (John's Bascom Automotive) that they will adjust their computer system to allow a "two speed idle test". My bill was $95 and I still have to pay for a smog test after driving around for
a couple of days to clear the computer monitors, a fair amount and I gladly paid it.

John advised me that I'd get no satisfaction with Toyota or the DMV. I went to the dealership where I
bought the car and they said that the smog stations don't know what they're doing. They charge
about $100 and work around the P0500 code but it takes them about two hours to do this. I told
them that I should have been notified about the dyno none-compatability by Toyota and that Toyota
should have notified the DMV beforehand. I wonder how many speed sensors are being replaced by
unknowing smog shops around the state. I got Toyota's main customer support phone number and
will call them Monday. I'm going to get my pound of flesh ($95 worth) from the DMV next week also.

SOURCE: trac off and check engine light for lexus es 300

A week ago, on my Lexus ES 300 (2001), "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights came on. This coincided with me filling the gas tank to the brim to round the dollar to be paid. I cleaned the gas tank cap and the tank opening. However, both lights persisted. On the same day, when I turned on the car again, there was a hesitance, a stuttering to come on. Both "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights were still on.

The next day, the car wouldn't come on at all. It sounded as the battery was dead. I couldn't even jump start the car. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. The "Check Engine" light was off. However, the "Trac Off" was still on. I cleaned the gas tank cap one more time.

The next morning, when I turned the car on, there was no problems. It came on instantly as it used to be, didn't have any warning lights, and drove smoothly.

SOURCE: My son's 1999 Lexus ES 300 has a code of P0420 and

a common problem is the vacuum switching valves on the charcoal canister. These are small electrical solenoids with 2 vacuum hoses going to them. When you put power and ground to them they should click. Otherwise make sure there isn't a vacuum hose disconnected by the air cleaner box.

My 97 lexus failed the smog check my mechanic say is the pvs, what I have to fix

Why didn't you ask your mechanic what this was? I never heard of a PVS. I have heard of a PVC valve, but that is not likely to fail your smog test. Does the car have any trouble codes?

Reset check engine lite 2002 lexus es 300

The way to stop the check engine light is to pull the error code(s) from the computer and resolve what is indicated. REMEMBER the code is a CLUE and not necessarily the issue, for example, an intake leak can cause a oxygen sensor to register out of range....
The light would reset automatically, in absence of errors.

Tail lights keep blowing fuse 50 , brake lights and turn signals still work, this is a 2002 lexus es 300

hi...
this may be some short circuiting is taking place.that is some wire is lost the insulation and touching the car body. so when you apply break current flows through the body which increases the current and blows off the fuse. so please check the wire condition adn rectify it. it wil be fine.

2002 es 300 lexus

There is one before each catalytic converter (usually up right near the exhaust manifolds), and one after each cat (or if you have a Y-pipe exhaust that brings the two sides together to one pipe and one converter, then there's one after that single converter). Why do you want to change them? Have you gotten failure codes or are you having poor gas mileage? Or have they just been in there a long time? They're usually good for about 60k miles, although of course they can fail early. Usually the symptoms are poor fuel economy, running rich (seen by black smoke out the tailpipes and some rough idling, as well as blackened spark plugs), or fault codes dealing with system-lean or system-rich descriptions. Those symptoms are indicative of bad primary O2 sensors (the ones closest to the engine). If your secondary sensor(s) are failing (the post-cat sensor or sensors) you'll trip a check-engine light warning you of poor catalytic converter efficiency.
