SOURCE: will not come out of tow/haul mode

It's the little wires that come out at the bottom of the shift handle inside the steering column cover. The wires usually break and in your situation maybe pinched together.

SOURCE: Factory Trailer tow package - fuses?

Look in the owners manual first. I have seen some of the fuse boxes under the back seat on the drivers side. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. This should help. Mike

SOURCE: transmission tow/haul mode

Hi, the problem is when you are tilting the steering wheel all the way up it's putting to much tenstion on the wires that come outof your shifter that run to the tow/haul button. i am 99% sure your wires are disconected. rewire them and add some extra wire so next time there will be more slack in your wires.

Where to find the wire going to the trailer towing plug for the braking.

As far as I know, your trailer towing package does not include a circuit for trailer braking. These packages normally only supply taillights, brake-lights, and turn signals.
RV sales and service dealerships should be able to help you.
God bless your efforts.

What the difference between jeeps with and with out a hitch

no drive line options stated, what engine and trans?
the cars data sheet covers all that. 2011?
i dont know what towing option they had in 2011.
just hitch or other things,
mostly capacity is a function of car weight and power and transmissions ability not not overload or over heat.
up to 5000 lbs, as it says , adequately equipped,(drive train)
type of hitch and tires,
all are factors.
why not ask jeep this, they look and see what you have
then ask you what you want to tow.
see>?
quote:
With the available towing package, the Liberty is capable of pulling a load up to 5,000 pounds.

youd need top ask jeep that, for a 2011.
after all they designed it and sold it.
and brake good enough to stop car + 5000 pound
so..... at the least, not to mention speeds, or altitudes and side wind effects.

The Jeep Liberty's towing capacity without the towing package is 2000 pounds. With the towing package, it's 3500 pounds. With the towing package and a weight distribution hitch, it's 5000 pounds. You will get down the road hauling 5000 pounds (don't try to go over any mountain passes), but your engine and transmission will pay the price. Mostly what the towing package gives you is an upgraded engine and transmission cooling system.

again why not ask jeep this, go there and ask them , Sr.
how do I get to 5000lbs safe, its their car, and there design.

ever go down a hill fast with 5000 lbs behind this small car?
? it wont be fun.
5000 lbs pushing 4000lbs.
the car is a victim , of these powerful forces.

Not towing with but towing behind rv and the 2010 odyssey has had to be boosted off twice, has a brand new battery on it what could the problem be

If you have to have the key on to unlock the steering wheel, try installing a battery cut off switch under the hood. You cannot completely remove battery power completely or you will loose the radio station memory and the brake lights. You can install a battery isolator on the RV so you can charge the battery on the odessy while you're towing it using a wire on the hitch connector.

1988 jeep cherokee lorado 4 door 4x4...4.0 6cylender..... needs rear end gear oil..but it calls for 2 different kinds depending on weather or not you have the towing package..how can i tell if i have the...

you can use the oil for the towing package in either rear end, but what they want to know is if the rear end is posi track. to find out jack up the back of the jeep put the transmission in neutral and turn one of the rear wheel if the wheel on the other side turns in the same direction that you are turning the wheel then you have posi track if the wheel on the other side turns backwards the you don't. but like i said you can use the towing oil in either rear end when in dought use the towing oil.

Looking to put a hitch on my ram 1500(2001). Is the wiring harness the same as if i had a tow package on it?

the wiring harness is the econimical way to go about it; it serves the same function as if you had a tow package. But if you want the Dealer Tow package look, there are multible harnesses that you can just plug into the existing plug under your vehicle

I keep blowing the same fuse. under the hood how can i find where the short is?? It the fuse for the dashboard lights and tail lights?? Dashboard lights for sure.

do you have a tow hitch? if so start at the wiring for the tow package usually corrode and short out the lights. if you don't have tow package harness at the back then i would be looking at the front side marker light wiring, if dash lights are effected it means problem is in the park lights only.

1998 Windstar w/o tow package need solution to increase tow capacity

You may be getting into a very dangerous situation. You definitely need a tranny cooler, a brake controller installed in your van, electric brakes on all wheels of whatever u r towing, an oil cooler (engine), and u still may be in big trouble. Factory towing packages usually include heavy duty brakes, alternator, heavy duty suspension, bigger tires, sway bars, etc. So even w/ some add-ons u still won't match a factory set up, meaning u shouldn't tow that much weight. Check out edmonds.com/ownership/howto/articles/44921/page001.html for more info, be careful, and good luck, countrycurt0
