How do I replace the high mount brake light on my 2011 Chevy Malibu?

rear window light comes on ?????? What rear window lights ? center high mount brake lights , is that what your talking about . Looking at a wiring diagram an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an testing the electrical circuit or just checking to see if the wiring connector is pushed in an locked ,would be the thing's to check

Remove the rear window package shelf. Disengage the rear window shelf insulator from the rear shelf trim panel in order to get to the high mount stop lamp screws. Disconnect plug.

Replace caliper slides and hardware grease with high temp or caliper grease. Clean caliper mounts if problem persists mounts could be warped or bent. Or worst case both wheel bearings are bad. Also check master cylinder by using block off plugs (remove lines at master cylinder and replace with brass plugs) if the pedal doesnt return properly the problem is the master cylinder.

trans is slipping. 2011... dont do it yourself take it to chevy. hopefully still in warantee.

Stop Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the stop lamps. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the BCM will receive a signal from the brake pedal position sensor. The BCM then supplies battery positive voltage to both left and right stop lamp assemblies and to the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL). The stop lamps are grounded at G401 and G403. The CHMSL is grounded at G302.
Did you check the blub , is there power ( B+) at the third light ? Is the ground G302 good ? Do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter , do you know how to use one ? Do you know what voltage drop is ? an know how to test it ? Check the stop lamp relay in the under hood fuse / relay box.
