The driver door on my 2004 kia optmia wont open. It will unlock but not open.
This is a common problem, among others, with the Kia Optima and I have heard the same said of Magenta? owners. Don\'t expect any help from the dealership as it is not a recall issue and therefore they are happily raping their customers for new door locks to the tune of $360+ dollars. Unfortunately I had my Kia driver\'s door lock replaced at the dealership 5 years ago and just a few days ago it has failed again. I am not surprised as the dealership most likely replaced it with the same faulty Korean garbage that was in there in the 1st place. Expect failure again if you have this replaced. I have not experienced this issue with any other doors on the car at this time. If you are at all mechanically inclined, take off the door panel and do some diagnostics or repairs yourself. I am taking mine to a trusted mechanic to be fixed so hopefully they will not overcharge me for time & labor.
This happen with my 2004 kia optima.. drivers side door. doors locked and unlocked. but once you try and open it automatically locks itself.. can't get in or out of it. VERY frustrating!! turned out to be the lock assembly. about $400 for parts and replacement.
If you have tried the inside, and outside door handle, and it does not open you need a new door latch assembly.
Check and see if the child lock is on & if not, the handle could be broken on one side, or a latch could've become stuck somehow.
