Is this FOB failure (RKE)
or metal key failure.
say what you do. exactly.
or if 2nd key that came with car fails too....???
and what all doors do. not just one...
the metal key works but the fob button fails
is that it?
the car have only one key is bad.
but if true the battery may fix it.
on older cars, 7 years use, we clean the fob button contacts too.
with pure alcohol.

It could be the battery on your key fob needs replacing. Bring it to Walmart or any auto parts store.

Make sure you have the right key. Check and see if it works in another door or the rear hatch. If it works you could have something rusted or sticking. Does it go all the way in? Will it turn freely both ways? If so then something could be broken inside. If it does not go all the way in or sticks try spraying some WD40 or rust out, or penetrating oil into the key slot. If that does still not work you will have to take the inside door panel off. Hope this helps.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The drivers side door won't open, either with the key fob or by manually placing the key into the lock and turning it. I've replaced the battery in the key, and after...

Some cars, not sure about this model have dead locks so no even the key wouldnt open it.
its like detaching the lock mechanisim from the lock, so therefore the key is useless.

there should be some type of override but I have to be honest I am not familiar with this fault on this car, might be worth phoning the dealer see what info you can get out of them for free.

Hope that helps, if not try the forum for jeeps just go to google type in jeep forum and you should find it, them guys know much more than me about this fault no doubt.

    hope that helps

I turn off car, open door and all door then lock when closing it.

you can take the fuse out for the automatic locks but then you would have to lock all the doors manually or you can check the lock relay in the fuse panel make sure to check the relay with a multimeter from point a to point b

You can try closing all the doors, then locking drivers door using the key...then unlock. Depending upon what system you have, this often works!

Alarm sounding upon unlocking door with key

there is a sensor that tells the anti theft module you used the key to unlock the door, it is attached to the door latch or lock cylinder, u must have disconnected the wire to the sensor, so it thinks u are breaking into the car.
