A NO START CAR right? cranks fast.
what does KICK mean. (looking, what?)
p reg is only UK term, we are usa we dont have UK laws here.
google finds, Sept 1996 to August 1997 = P reg......
as you can see our cars are not yours, at all EFI wise....
the FP relay is on our 1996 was moved from below ECU
to right side of the HVAC heater box behind, glove box.
but our cars are LHD and yours is RHD>
and our cars are OBD2 in 1996 ,participating the move of all parts.
my guess, and can say for sure if you post your VIN tag.
is your FP relay is below ECU.
the socket on all Pre 1996 in usa and canada are GREEN.
and all countries the relay has huge PINK wires there.
on my 97 and 97 the pump does run for 3 seconds, key on
and does cranking, and sure running.
your car also came (options) with a IMMO that cuts the same relay. so the IMMO lights most be watched.
need the book on that. have it.......
sorry i said book , folks here hate books. im told.....
on my 2 car(and my 04) the pump can not be hear easy
keyon, i have to take the fuel cap off , and listen there,
as GF keys on....(buddy)
or I cant hear it. (a good pump is very quiet on this car)
and bad pumps sure do make noise.
what matters is this.
1: fuses good. IG-coil, FI and Dome (memory fuse)
2: battery changed to 12.6vdc rested.
3: key on all warning lamps glow for test. must.
4: CEL lamp must glow, and IMMO not unhappy.
5: key on 3 times and see of the pump gets 12vdc to it ?
yes,? good,
no, its IMMO issue or fuel pump relay bad.
yes, the fuel pressure is next.
30psi....
if below that , the pump is bad or PFR bad.
if stuck at 60 the FPR is stuck closed on fuel rail. flood city......
we can fix any G16 of any kind .
how is that.?
ask for more, have endless answers and forums covering the whole car. vast data on suzuki.s...

SOURCE: where is the starter for a 2000 suzuki grand vitara located
starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

I suggest either a "Haynes" or "Chilton" repair manual. They are both very informative concerning complete engine tear down.
It's under your hood, in one of those boxes, and should be marked. Your pump won't cut in if it's fried either. Check to see if there is power at the pump. Maybe you just have a loose wire. You can always hope!

Haynes don't cover that engine. I've found a copy of the H25 engine manual which is similar to the H20 engine we have. If you search for SQ416 in google you'll find a copy you can buy or if you're lucky you'll find a free download somewhere like I did!! :-) It has helped me loads.
