1999 Ford Explorer Door Lock Actuator REMOVAL: 1.Remove the front door trim panel. 2.Remove the water shield. 3.Remove the power door lock actuator. 4.Disconnect the electrical connector. 5.Drill out the rivet. 6.Disconnect the actuator rod. 7.Remove the actuator. ------------------------------------

in side door panel must be removed look near the lock &lock motor a linkage most likely came off may need a new. clip to replace.if this helped please rate.
If you are asking about the handles on the outside of the vehicle you will need to remove the door panel on the inside to gain access to the nuts that hold the handles onto the door.

Removal and Installation All vehicles
NOTE: Left side exterior mirror shown, right side similar. Remove the interior door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .
Front Door Trim Panel
Removal and Installation
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
Remove the inside door handle bezel from the trim panel.
Remove the window switch assembly.
Disconnect the window switch and power door lock electrical connectors.
Remove the upper trim panel screw at the window switch opening.
Remove the lower trim panel screws.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the door trim panel, do not pull directly outward for this step. Lift the door trim panel by pulling directly upward on the armrest to disengage the panel clips.
Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector.
Remove the trim panel.
Remove the weather shield.
Vehicles with power, heated or approach lamp equipped exterior mirrors
You will need to remove the door panel to gain access to the handle. Roll the window up or down as needed to get to the nuts that attach the handle to the door. You will also need to remove a rod the goes to the door lock. You will see the rod after the door panel is removed. Good luck.
