I was wondering ...What size socket do I need to remove the coolant sensor from my 1990 Toyota Corolla DX?

If Biggy1 has described it right, I think when you remove the WIRE to the spark plug ( not the plug itself ) and oil jumps out, there is a cylindrical seal that needs replacing and one does not need to even remove the cylinder head.
I have the same problem with my corolla. On the other hand if Biggy meant when removing the SPARK PLUG oil was on the contacts....

The 30mm axle nut does NOT get removed to remove a rotor. The 17mm caliper bolts must be removed to removed the caliper, and the rotor will come right off.

Follow the hose from the bottom of the radiator to the point where in reaches the engine block. That's where the thermostat is located and the Engine Coolant Temperature switch is there too.

A Chevrolet Prizm is the same Toyota Corolla car. Scion is Toyota also. All the mass air flow sensor of the same year and same engine size should be the same.

32mm.or 34mm. Go to auto parts store and borrow both to make sure. They are high $$$$
