Looked at the fuses under the hood and by the glove box, and can't find the trunk release switch fuse. The trunk is continuously opening by itself and I want to pull the fuse.

If you have a key fob or transmitter that has a button to open the trunk have it tested for a active RF signal, It may be sending a signal to open the trunk lid also

There isn't one. It's controlled by the BCM. You have a shorted wire or the switch is bad. Pop the switch out and unplug it. If it still happens(shorted wire) open the trunk and pull the plug off the latch.

Common problem with the Gm vehicles.. Just unplug actuator on trunk latch and you still will b able to use key,,

  • Randy Ohler Jun 27, 2015

It surely is Rob. Another is that people don't use the key and the cylinder won't accept the key or won't turn.

Trunk release relay

There's a switch in the lock itself in the trunk if you have a continuity tester check the release button first then the wires going to the trunk make long jumper wires from speaker wire and check for continuity then try jumping the lock itself with battery power and see if it works there is an accessory relay for that stuff but is everything else working door locks windows etc. ? That's in your passenger fuse box if all is working that's not it and go with the continuity checks pull out the glove box switch and touch the switch pins with each lead then press the button if the tester light comes on or meter beeps the switch is fine go to the wires next and do the same thing one end at the glove box plug to the other in the trunk for each wire if they light up or beep all good and the lock maybe bad if no beeps or lighting there's a wire break and check by sections at a time good luck stephen

My valet mode in my Cadillac dts will not turn off. It's a 2006. Can't get to my music or my trunk won't open. Please help.

It may be the ALDL fuse in the underhood fuse block, so check that. If OK, it may be the trunk release relay in the fuse block under the rear seat - also check that.
If those are OK, the valet switch in the glove box may have failed in the open position. Remove the glove box and disconnect the wire connector from the switch; then jumper the two wires together. If that fixes the problem, replace the switch.

buy one
or login to alldata.com,

there are only 2 ways to do fuses
RTM read the FSM . see that some fuses 1, runs 20 things,(park is like that)
or test every freakn fuse. (not just look, test them)
2 ways, I use a voltmeter and test them live
see 12v both sides, key on.

2003 Toyota Avalon. Trunk release button on dash does not work. I do not have any power coming to the connector that attaches to the button. Checked with volt meter.I checked with button in glove...

check the continuity of the switch/s sounds faulty to me... you have checked every thing else....but it may very well be a relay... all power comes from the box for that type of stuff except the switch itself (switched power) which i think has its own line perhaps to its own fuse on your model ..not sure

My husband and I have a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS with a trunk release malfunction. We have tried to open the trunk by inserting the key in the lock, but the key will not turn. Until today, we were...

Does the key you have open the driver door? Do you have a keyless entry key fob, does it work? you also might try removing the glove box and disconnecting the wires from the trunk button and touching them together with a paper clip or other small wire but before you do that look in your owners manual a determine which fuse is for the trunk release and check the fuse then the last would be to have GM dealer check to see if the key you have is the proper key fror your car and if it may be worn out

Fuel door and truck release fuse

I had the same problem last fall and had my mechanic check all fuses, he could not find the problem. Later my son was in the glove box and then I remembered the valet button disables the trunk and gas door so the person parking your car cannot snoop in your trunk or get to your gas cap. push the valet button in the glove box and see if you can release the trunk and gas door. Hope this works for you, it can be a pain opening the trunk every time you want to put gas in the car....good luck...........
