All my AC vents work accept my defrost vents - 2009 Kia Sportage

COULD BE BLOWER MOTOR OR RESISTER

The defrost switch/relay is not working and needs repair.

the ERG shouldn't have anything to do with what vents the AC comes out of, rather the dash switch that exists for changing from defrost to main vents to floor vents controls what vents are used.

I think your problem is the head unit that selects where the air comes out ie. Face, floor, defrost, or hi-level face and floor. If that's not working then it will not let you switch location that you want the air to come out.

Yes, except for the vent setting. AC or defrost will engage the compressor, but vent should be just outside air.
Does the blower work ?

There is a blend door acuator which moves when u change your settings. Its a electric motor. Down under dash, Will need a mech and a heating and cooling diagram to find where the motor is,

this vehicle may have to be put on scanner to recenter blend door motors,on older cars these doors was operated by vacuum if you lost vacuum it would default to defrost only but this vehicle uses electric motors to work blend doors

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
