To the suction port, or low pressure side of the system. If you do not know what one that is, you might want to get some help. You need to have the proper amount of freon in the system or there could be compressor damage.
Just go to Wal mart or a parts store and buy about three large cans maybe four of AC Pro it comes with its own hose and everything. Set the gauge on can to the outside temp , attach to low end of charging port(it can only be attached to low end) and squeeze trigger on can in short bursts. Go to You Tube it will explain better...
Look under the hood and open the black plastic cap on the lower aluminium valves and spray inside BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING READ THE INSTRUCTIONS on the can the car needs to be started and the a/c turned on before you spray it in keep car and ac on while you add the freon
There is aa line coming off air compressor if you trace it down there are two valves on it was screw on caps. The smallest valve is where you hook up freon hose to add freon. I hope this helps, any clarifications needed fell free to ask.
The low pressure refrigerant port is near the firewall, just after the receiver/dryer. You'll need a gauge and preferably an ac test manifold. You can use the manifold to add refrigerant up to the point where the system maintains the pressure level in the green area. There should be a blue cap on the low pressure valve. I believe your malibu take's 12 ounce's of R134, don't over charger the system. You'll blow O rings and worst kill the A/C compressor. Good luck and hope this helps. Here is a link for A/C recharging. http://www.geocities.com/vantaray/air_conditioning.htm
First off you 2006 vehicle contains no Freon R12. It contains R134 refrigerant. You have a leak or you would not need to add refrigerant. It is illegal to add refrigerant without repairing the leak. Take it to a trusted A/C specialist and have the leak repaired. They have the proper tools and expertise to add the correct amount and repair the leak.
Could be several things. The fuse relay to the AC compressor could be bad. The system may need to be recharged due to lack of refrigerant the compressor will not work unless it has enough.

The charging port is in the larger of the 2 AC lines from the AC compressor on the engine, it will be near to or in the round cannister (called an Accumulator) that larger AC line goes near the firewall at the back of the engine bay.
