I don't think it can be reset without a dealer spec scan tool. Has the service been done? if so, the servicing garage should have reset it. Oil Changes are not "service" If it has not been done, have it done. If the service garage does not have the proper tools to reset the service indicator, they don't need to be working on MB.
You need an OBII scanner to reset the service light. @ options, you can buy a scanner for $60 + OR you can go to any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc..) and have them reset it -they do this FREE
In regards to your service indicator reset, this needs to be done by the dealer using their computers.
Take it in and ask them to do this. Of course it should have been done with your last service.
With the merceds cars releying heavily on electronics, i would stongly suggest that you get it serviced, especially something that can possible effect your driving.
Keep in mind that although it's expensive to keep getting it serviced at the dealer, it will help hold the resale value.
With the key in position 1, hit the odometer reset button on the left on the cluster 3 times in a row. The cluster should beep once. scroll through the multifunction display with the page buttons until the display shows the onboard voltage screen. It will say something like "UB: 12.2 V" scroll threw this menu with with the up/down until you reach the "service menu" page. scroll down to "confirmation" press +, confirm full service with +. Wait till it says service confirmed. cycle the key off and then back on to position 2. Scroll to the normal service menu where it normally says how many days or miles till next service. If the service was reset correctly, it will say "service display not possible" for a few minutes while it recalculates. You must cycle the key off and back on before it will back out of the onboard diagnostic mode. If you dont back out, the esp/abs/bas lights will illuminate when the car is started
