Shifter started out hard to put in drive and now wont come out of park, cable is good as i disconnect from trans and still wont budge out of park.
Just because you disconnected the shift cable from the trans doesnt mean the car is now out of gear. The interlock switch is located next to the shifter in the center console. Remove the bezel around the shifter and you should see a small tab that reads (shift interlock) pull it out of its holder and the shifter should once again move
Testimonial: "i removed linkage from trans to see is the trans was the issue, figures with it disconnect the shifter would move freely. but it did not. i have the solenoid out at least i believe its the solenoid for shifter it was right next to shifter had a long rod coming out of it."
i have console out and dont see any tab, what the hell am i missing here,

Check your manual ..it will tell you how to disengage the solenoid lock. It is under the shift console and can be accessed by removing the panel. You either have one of two problems. Either the solenoid itself is bad or you have a bad brake switch. Remember you must put your foot on the brake in order to shift out of park. The brake light circuit feeds voltage to the shift solenoid when you apply the foot brake. If the brake switch is bad you get no voltage to the solenoid and the trans shift remains locked.
