My car wont start up

First of all, the new fuel pump may be bad. disconnect line at fuel filter where it goes through filter. and see if fuel flows, or have someone to put hand flat on bottom of tank and try to start car. if fuel pump is working you will feel a vibration on tank. if it does not work, check the fuel pump fuse in fuse box before you exchange it.and or the fuel pump relay! when car is running it runs constantly, when you simply turn key to on position, it runs for about 3 seconds(until fuel pressure in line comes up. and then cycles off.

2003 chevy malibu gas gauge always on empty, replaced the fuel pump

Need to replace the sensor inside the gas tank. I have a 2008 Malibu with the same problem. It was a faulty fuel gauge sensor.

2001 chevy malibu wont start after the car runs out of gas and we put more gas

It may take 3-4 times cranking for a few seconds,
with a 5 second pause between to get fuel up to the engine. Also may have sucked up
some dirt/debris into the fuel pump after running it dry. May want to change fuel filter.
you can try to have someone bang on the bottom of the tank while someone else
cranks engine. Sometimes this will free up a stuck fuel pump. good-day!!

Is there a fuel switch when you run out of gas

after you put about 2-3 gal. of gas back in tank you should turn key on for about 4-5 seconds then off then try it again to get the gas back in the line.
if it don't start after trying that it could be you burned up the fuel pump in the tank.
when you first try this have someone listen for the pump to run at the tank.
take off the gas cap and listen from there.
when you first turn on the key it should run for a couple seconds.

Where is the fuel pump located on a chevy malibu

It's located in the gas tank and to replace it, your going to have to drop the gas tank.
Thank you for using fixya and if you are going to replace the fuel pump your self. Make sure you also replace the wire harness from the frame to the fuel pump.

My 98 Chevy Malibu v6 3.1 liter engine high idling

You probably have a large vacuum leak. With the engine running, listen under the hood for a hissing sound. Check all of the rubber lines running from the intake.
