Corrosion to sensor connectors causes bad behavior. Most likely temperature sensor for engine block sensor to ECU computer has corrosion. Clean connectors and spades to bright metal. Should be two lines/ connectors. Many other sensors could have a similar effect, or soon will have.

What your smelling fuel for is the fact that once you start it your flooding the **** out of it.. your fuel relese valve needs to be closed up a bit, your intake for fuel is to high basically, this can and will happen due to racing, vibration, or just over time. Its one of those problems that occurs now and then, it is a simple fix!!

What should I check

Have you had any issues with your oil level raising? You could have an injector sticking open slightly letting the residual fuel pressure that is in the line bleed fuel into the engine after shutting the engine off.

Fuel delivery system most likely. It may be flooding if you need to wait for a restart. Which would mean too much fuel and probably bad fuel injectors or their control system. Fuel pump, fuel filter, It may have a fuel pump and fuel pump relay. Fuel injectors may be a problem or their controlling system.

Car stalle Security light on

Try your spare key.It could be that the primary key you have been using needs to be reprogrammed, which can be done by contacting a dealer.Turn the key to the "On" position in order to reset the pass lock system.Wait for fifteen minutes with the key in the "On" position. If the security light disappears, turn the key to the "Accessories" position and wait for a couple of seconds.Turn the key to the "Off" position and take it out from the lock cylinder. Wait a couple of seconds and turn the car on.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combustion?

I didn't see where you mentioned the MAF, or mass airflow sensor, my Volkswagon had the same problem. If I drove for more than 30min, the engine would basically bog, and sputter until basically you couldn't go but a few mph. Then you sit and wait maybe 20 min, and it ran fine for another 30min. Almost posotive!!!
