Get in touch with a local mechanic , see if a friend can recommend one to you and ask them for a quote , i would say 3 hours labour would be plenty of time to carry out the procedure

Depends on shop rate. But looking at about 4 hours labor plus parts. So I would guess around $300 to $500. I'm guessing you have the 4 cylinder. So it could be more as it is old and parts break removing them. Like the rusty water jacket that runs under the engine.

My 1998 Saturn sl2 is constantly leaking oil from the valve cover, what is the best fix.

You have to apply a dab of RTV sealant where the timing chain assembly meets the cylinder head. And you have to be very careful when tightening the valve cover bolts. Overtightening causes leaks.

Saturn sl2 2002 code P0301

Have you checked your spark plugs yet? This is a Cylinder 1 misfire. Most likely just plugs and wires but these also had an issue with the intake gasket leaking air and causing a misfire code. Spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner along the intake manifold where it touches the cylinder head and see if the engine almost dies while running, if so then you know yo have a leaking intake gasket.

Blue smoke is usually bad rings. But in the meantime, try changing your oil, see if that helps.

98 saturn SL2, P0172 and misfire dtc's, jerks when accelerating after warmed up. Coolant looked a little frothy but doesn't seem to need coolant added(not consuming coolant)Oil looks good. Problem started...

Possible blown head gasket. Big problem . Have that checked immediately by a engine coolant pressure leak-down test. You can lose your engine and pronto! Small amount of coolant possible passing into crankcase or/and the cylinders.

1993 saturn blown head?

Hi

Only 2 ways of oil gets in the cooling system are, engine oil, via leaking cylinder head gasket.

The other is the auto transmission fluid, via split in radiator oil cooler.

Check the color of the oil, that should be the clue !

Good Luck !

A FixYa Rating would be appreciated..... Thank You !

John

1994 saturn sl2 automatic, with really bad oil leak.

There are only two paths for oil there. The rear main, and a oil galley plug a little higher up, about 2 o'clock.
