It is not recomended to flat tow your expedition with the engine off and driveshaft in. The oiling system in your transmission runs off of the engine. You can tow short distances but the transmission components will be turning without fresh fluid being moved through them. This will cause exessive wear due to the fluid overheating and losing its ability to lubricate properly. You can flat tow unlimited distances with the engine ideling or the driveshaft removed. if you chose to tow with the engine running you should stop often to make sure you are not overheating the engine. You may not get enough air flow to the radiator while the expedition is behind your motor home.

Can you flat tow 4x2 2007 Ford Expedition If so is there any modifications...

05 expedition 5.4 118000miles.4 wd doesn't work...4x4 light and brake light in dash come on simultaneously and blink 3 times then go out. Comes back and does same thing every few minutes... help!?

These trucks are known for the 4x4 control module going bad. Last one I replaced was located behind/under the glove box. It is definitely worth replacing and a relatively cheap and easy fix.

Tow my 2011 Nissan frontier behind my motorhome

I wouldn't flat tow any vehicle & expect
the transmission or transfer case, to be happy
about it,in the long run

If you study your owners manuals & service manuals
& towing stuff, you will see no manufacturer recommends
the driven wheels be on the ground.

I have 2014 frontier-so that is both ends, of a 4x4

I would put it on a trailer

Too much in the front & rear of the drive train, for me
to tow, other than a trailer

I guess having once owned a trans shop, you see my concerns

Awkward gas pedal position 2005 ford expedition

No there is way to safely fix this without a kit that is approved for the job. I would contact someone who deals with disabled persons whom often need this kind of modification made to the pedals in the car.

I have automatic 2001 Ford Explorer sport trac bought from USA, the car did not run since i received it because it does not move when i put the level to D nor R position.

What you can try is to start the vehicle, put it in Neutral, press on the brake, and while doing that press the 4x4 Button and hold it for 5 seconds. If this does not help, you will need an Owners Manual for Year specific information.

You want to reset your Transfer case from being towed to Run. It sounds like your unit was switched to the current Mode for transit. Another idea is to contact the Tow company who delivered it for advice on this setting. Even if you used a Tow dolly yourself, I imagine the towtruck drivers would need to know how to switch this setting when they tow an Explorer themselves.

This Tow mode is used to enable towing the SUV behind a Motorhome. The Automatic transmissions need lubricant on the seals or they will burn up. The Tow mode disengages the Transfer case and keeps some of the parts from turning. You need to look at Year specific information because of the difference in Automatic transmissions. For a short time, there were engine options which included a different transmission for better mileage with bigger engines.

The older models needed a Tow dolly and the newer models can just use a Tow bar on the frame.
I hope my opening statement fixed your problem. Should you want to Tow your SUV behind another vehicle, you will need to use the Tow feature.

I own a 2006 Duramax Diesel 2500, with Allison Transmission and would like to know if I can tow this truck behind a Motorhome? Is there anything special I need to do?

Sounds like you should tow the motorhome with the 2500!!

seriously though, if it's a 4X4 make sure the front axle is not engaged, otherwise just make sure tranny is in neutral

just to be safe, check OM or nearest Allison warranty shop for advice

I'd be more worried about the motorhome drivetrain pulling that beast.....

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2005 Ford Expedition 4X4 Eddie Baur.

The fuel filter is located on the front of the gas tank, behind the metal bracket mounted to the tank.
