In short, van accelerates at will, usually right after start up. Not a stuck throttle...cruise control maybe??? HELP!!!!

302 V8 recent purchase. Seems to accelerate at will, especially at start up within the first mile or so. Doesn't seem to be a stuck throttle but the vehicle has been sitting about a year.

How to perform a relearn procedure in 2000 dodge ram van 1500

if you don`t have a scan tool capable of performing relearn procedure then you will have to drive the car under all conditions from cold to hot and short to long distances as well under different throttle conditions. etc, idle cruise acceleration and hard acceleration.

What causes cruise control to work when truck cool but will not once the truck warms up?

suggest checking cable on accelerator throttle arm in engine bay where it connects from cruise control to accelerator throttle arm on engine. Thinking if it is loose it may get looser when hot.
Check connectors on electronics in engine bay on cruise control.
Check sensor for speed. Is it ignition maybe a scotch lock connector that expands with heat and cruise control looses sensor for igition pulses. How does it sense speed ?
Is it magnets on the drive shaft maybe the Hall efect transducer is close to exhaust pipe under car and is being affected by heat.
Is it front wheel drive ? check for a pulse sender on speedo cable in engine bay maybe this is getting cold.

Check cruise control cable is oiled adequately in cable sleeve .

check vacuum connector is ok in engine bay also ?

Throttle pedal position sensor "A" circuit low input

Sounds like the Throttle Plate is sticking

You were fooled into changing the TPS because of the code

Not the way you diagnose vehicle issues

You find out why a sensor--- good or bad set the code

Get some CRC Throttle Body Cleaner & follow the instructions

Don't need much sprayed around the throttle plate

Then have someone step on gas pedal to confirm success

May need the key on

Your low input is the throttle not returning to home position

Almost like the sensor was telling you what was wrong

Fun stuff isn't it & not easy to understand

Cruise control just quit working on my 2011 hyandai sonata

there will be a cable from the cruise control that moves when the cruise controls the car. This cable is usually paralleled to the cable that the accelerator pedal moves. At the throttle control of the engine you will find these wire cables. If the cruise control cable is not oiled it can seize in the cable sleeve which might affect the accelerator pedal also.

Cruise control went out on my 2005 ford taurus and my accelerator gets stuck at times. Should I replace the cruise control?

This is a dangerous defect. What you want to do is isolate the Cruise cable from the Throttle mechanism. Then get the Cruise cable away from the Throttle so it can not jam the Throttle accidentally.

With the engine OFF use your hand and move the remaining Throttle mechanism and feel for sticking or roughness in the control. If you feel binding, start removing the connection of the Throttle cable and work your way through all the moving parts like a Butterfly flap on the Airhorn, the TPS (throttle position sensor) and so on until you find out what is rubbing.

It is possible that the Cruise was disengaging because the Throttle parts were binding. If disconnecting the Cruise eliminates the sticking throttle, then all the problems came from the Cruise control cable or the Cruise Box. Once you have made a thorough check of the Throttle you can blame the Cruise for your problems and replace the parts.

Cruise control 2000 jeep grand cherokee

insufficient info. The cruise control has a cable that runs from the servo, located just in front of the battery, to just behind the air intake, to the throttle body. (This is on the 4.7L V8 engine.) Check for that cable being connected at the throttle body. That connect is adjacent to the accelerator cable.

Venture acceleration

Cruise control has nothing to do with it, your pick-up is malfunctioning, it is located below the distributor or the coil pack. Replace it ASAP
