The soft-top system works with a combination of mechanical, hydraulic and electronic means. This provides fast and exact control of the motion. The soft top is opened and closed either with the control button in SIC-C or with the remote control and the function is fully automatic. No manual handling is necessary.
The soft top, which is pulled taut on the mechanism, comprises three layers, one outer water- repellent, one insulating and one interior.
The soft top mechanism is built of parallel three-part magnesium rails with six lateral bows. When the soft top is open, it is covered by the soft top cover and stored in a space between the rear seat and the luggage compartment.
The soft top is opened and closed using a hydraulic system controlled by the STC (Soft Top Control).
The top mechanism is hydraulic. Why did you move it manually? Be careful, the hydraulic tubing is plastic and you don't want to apply too much pressure trying to close it, you may damage the tubing. What happens when you try to 'power the top up'? Maybe if you have help pulling it while you try the switch.
is your soft top not working it's not the faulty relay, it's control by electronic control unit, it's call soft top control unit, so first do one thing, open boot and have a look, there are one separation lid which is winding like cover, you must have close your boot separation lid buy pulling it out and hang it on hook which is locate both side back in boot, there are two hooks for hookup the separation roller lid,you pull it out and hookup it on two hooks, and close boot then operate roof if still roof not working it's need to be diagnose because there are many sensors and switches are fitted in this system if one switch or sensor not work your roof will not longer be opening and also there are any hydraulic oil leaking or lack of oil in the pump, it will not work, so in this case you must drive your car to the authorized Mercedes workshop who have the right diagnose tool knowledge for this particular car,
The soft top control module should reset every time the ignition switch is off and the key is pulled out. There are two types of flashes. If the switch flashes fast it means the luggage cover in the trunk is not in place. If the light flashes slow it means there is an electrical problem. Meaning the control module is not seeing one of the micro-switches in the correct position. You can try manually opening and closing the soft top by locating the pressure relief screw in the back of the trunk. There will be a little flap of carpet towards the left center. Use a flat blade screwdriver to turn the bleeder screw to the left. This allows the hydraulic fluid to bypass the pump so that the top can be moved manually. You will need a 5mm allen to unlock/lock the latches.. Double check in the owners manual there might be illustrations I can't remember for sure if it does or doesn't.
The microswitch in the trunk is probably failing. Its just a pin switch. Get a new one and install. Its meant to warn you if there is something in the way.
make sure that you have the holder for the top in the trunk in position correctly and that the 'nubs' on each side of the plastic have triggered the switch on the right side when in position
