Hyundai tiburon running at high rpms when shifting

hmmm....it would seem as if your trans is having a bit of a hard time shifting so its sort of waiting before it can shift to the next gear (possible the gear system is having a problem shifting due to it sticking to some gears) i'd have to say....a mechanic can take a look to see why its seemingly shifting late at high RPMs to me IMO the trans is just having a hard time shifting with gears wanting to stick together making the whole trans have a hard time shifting

I Had My Transmission Rebuilt And The Transmission Has Been Replaced 3 Times Already Because Transmission Shifts Late And Passing Gear Kicks In Late What Could Be Going Wrong With The Transmission?

The shift point are set wrong or else the trans is getting the signal to shift late. Not sure what trans we are talking about but check and make sure the vacuum line in not bad or else a switch is bad on the trans that tells it when to shift.

Hi, I have a 1999 Mercury Villager with the 3.3 Litre Nissan motor. Just recently my cousin replaced the timing belt, and distributor. When we got the van back it was having transmission problems. When you...

I would start by making sure the Trans Fluid level is correct. If the level is good, it sounds like your internal pressures are leaking down, and that is why it slips out of gear. Which means you have internal trans issue which would require the trans to be most likely removed and repaired.

Thanks Jay!

1997 chey pu auto trans 1st and 2nd shift good drive doesn't shift until rpm's are 3500-4000 rpm

Do you get a check-engine light, or does the transmission O/D light flash? Many times, this is due to a speed sensor on the transmission. When the sensor goes, the transmission has to do default shift timing and it will shift very late. Usually, this will set a code in the onboard computer.

92 prelude si (auto)

With normal acceleration the 1st to second shift point should be around 2500-3000 rpm. Most of your shifts under moderate acceleration will take place at this same point or when there a light load on the transmission. Under hard acceleration the RPMs will climp higher due to increased power needs and the computer will shift when less power is needed or the RPMs climb to an unsafe speed say5000-6000rpms (depending on where yours redlines). Also going up a steep hill will raise the RPMs higher and goind down a hill will cause a faster shift at lower RPMs. These can always be altered by an individual owner by adjusting shift points, using performance parts and if you have problems (low tranny fluid/trans issues). Your trans RPMS are fine and will vary depening on how your foot accelerates. The shift pattern should be the same every time you drive slow/medium/fast/, look for changes in those patterns you will also catch a problem early.

Auto Transmission 2000 Rodeo

It seems that the trans is slipping. The smell is from excess trans flood. If Trans is over filled, it can rupture seals and cause leaking that can get on the exhaust and burn.
