If I put it in neutral and let it roll down a hill then put into drive when it is travelling at about 70km it is right again
Could it be a valve or electrical issue,
Any ideas

First, stop on a slight hill ,place the transmission in neutral and it should roll on its own.We want to see if there is any drag on the brakes etc.If it does roll then next is a computer connection plugs cleaning (under the hood at the left rear) then if that does not correct it,off to the transmission shop.
You need to take it an have it diagnosed , may have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the PCM / TCM that will point the service tech. in the right direction !
state the symptom , the FSM lists about 100.

stuck in 1 gear, name it?
When you have the vehicle in Neutral it should roll. If it rolls in Park you have a transmission problem. If your talking about a few inches when it is on a hill it is just play in the gears and you should use the Emergency brake when parking in that area to reduce strain on the Transmission.
Hi, Try releasing your parking brake and having someone push or rock your car. Sometimes the gearbox gets stuck in Park if the car moves after you put the car in Park and let the car roll a bit before applying the handbrake. It could also be a fault with the gearbox itself. Its also possible that the locking tab mechanism (that gets relesed when you press the button on your auto gear shift) has jammed. If you can get it out of Park do not put the car back into Park ,but rather put it in Neutral after you have finished driving around etc and use the hand brake when parking. At least you wont be stuck in Park until you get it to the repair shop. Note that your car can roll in Neutral, especially if your parking brakes are worn, so take extra care when parking ie point your wheels toward the kerb when parking on any hills or slopes. Any time your gearbox gets stuck its a fair bet that you need to get your gearbox inspected by an authorized repairer. Good luck, Steve (Melbourne, Australia)
i would say the fine grinding was when you put it in park the output shaft was turning and the parking paw was trying to engage into park then the paw engaged into park but you say it rolled i am thinking that your problem is in the transfercase
