SOURCE: The motor in my 1979 corvette will turn over but

So I will assume you have spark, seeing how your questioning whether it's carburetor or fuel pump. With a mechanical fuel pump, the easiest way to check is to disconnect fuel line at carburetor, and aim it in to a pop bottle, or similar container. Remove connector at distributor so no spark.
Crank engine over and see if fuel runs in to bottle, or container. If good flow, pump is o.k.
The proper way would be to hook a vacuum gauge up to inlet of fuel pump and crank engine and note vacuum.

SOURCE: I have a 1979 Corvette.

I would say that your wiring loom leading to the alternator could be shorting out either with moisture or by explosed metal of the cable through the car's metal work, It would be worth it if you are skilled in the use of electrical testing equipment (DMM)to follow continuity of resistance along the wires, although this will require having to make breaks in the cable or un attaching established connections, And/Or looking for obvious damage (frayed cables etc.) if you dont know what your doing then its much better to get somebody who does,
Hope this helps, Sion.

Why does the wipers turn on by themselvesand won't shut offin 1979 Corvette

Inside the wiper motor, there is a circular contact that must have a solution of continuity. Clean this space, it may have some coal that make false contact.

Why wont wipers gone down when i shut them off?

The park feature must be malfunctioning.
The crank arm on these wiper motors is not solid.....they rotate on themselves......as they rotate around, there is a moveable "peg" underneath the arm.....when you shut the wipers off, this peg catches a "tab" that causes the arm to rotate on itself, and parks the wipers( the tab is part of the mounting bracket that the motor is attached to)......you have to bend that tab upward a little.....do a little at a time....check it out by turning the wipers on and off.....when you have it bent up enough, the tab catches the peg, and the wipers park themselves.....

Kia sorento wipers won't stop

I had the wipers won't shut off, or turned on by themselves on my 2005 Kia Sorento. It about drove me nuts. I came across my solution by pressing every button I could find, eventually finding out what the mystery button to the right of the hazard button on the dash was for. (It's to defrost the front wipers by the way) You can investigate further if you'd like but it's not necessary if this works for you.

I simply pressed the button on, waited a moment and turned it back off. It stopped the wipers. They came back on about three more times over next few days and I repeated the process each time. It's been about three weeks since the last time I did it and I haven't had any more problems. This sound crazy or quirky I know and I don't pretend to understand it, but it's working for me. It beats the heck out of paying over $300 dollars plus labour for a new wiper switch . I priced them. Good luck.

Windshield wipers turn on by themselves (making left turn, going over bump, sarting engine). Could it be the switch in the door?

It is probably the wiper switch. On a day when it is not going to rain disconnect it and see if the problem goes away. If it does inspect the connections to the switch and / or replace the switch.

Wipers wont shut off

Check to make sure you are getting power to the wiper motors. Also check relay. Either one could be bad.
